What you will do
The Senior Category Leadership Analyst is responsible for building, developing, and shaping category growth plans based on key data, shopper and category insights and trends. This individual should have strong analytical skills, collaboration, project leadership, and have the ability to independently pull together strategic recommendations from insights and data. This person should be able to operate in a high-level, fast-paced, complex, and changing business environment.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for supporting our business through the following:
- Drive sales growth by proactively uncovering business opportunities via deep-dive analytics, independently discerning trends and providing insights-based recommendations. Data sources include: retailer loyalty data, syndicated data (Nielsen/IRI), Numerator, eCommerce data sources and HH Panel data.
- Provides high quality, unbiased category management recommendations to customer retailers and field sales to enable them to drive traffic, increase market share and improve efficiencies.
- Integrate Omni-channel initiatives into analysis of business results. Uncover transformational Omni Category insights and solutions for our customers / shoppers / consumers that deliver on critical metrics for instore and online.
- Lead category presentations at assigned customers.
- Develop assortment optimization recommendations for online and in-store by providing shopper, category, brand and/or customer insights.
- Collaborate with Customer Development Managers to evolve promotional plans, evaluate the impact of pricing and track competitive activity to unlock internal and external growth opportunities.
- Build customer relationships and serve as a trusted category partner, providing support during POG Line review process.
- Work with internal partners to provide voice of customer to craft our go to market initiatives and to provide an understanding of the external marketplace.
- Find opportunities to deliver on strategic seasonal priorities for the business. Develop, utilize, and share best practices to improve functional efficiency and accuracy of findings and recommendations.
- Ensure that data is organized and error-free when devising data sets through careful review and refinement.
- Leads strategic initiatives outside of day-to-day analytical support.
- Mentors/coaches junior members of the team.
What we are looking for
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
- A minimum of 3 years prior experience in category insights/management, sales analytics, shopper insights, or related field in a consumer products environment is required.
- Prior experience preferred with syndicated data, such as Nielsen, Circana and/or Numerator is preferred.
- Prior experience using Kroger data tools and systems is preferred (84.51 Stratum & Market6)
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are required.
- Prior Health and Beauty Care (HBC) and Self Care (OTC) category experience is preferred.
- Prior experience with JDA or other space planning software is preferred.
- Ability to independently assess, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from sales and customer data is required
- Ability to craft impactful presentations to explain recommendations and findings of analyses, resources, and studies are required.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

**Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities**

Experience: Prior retail and/or merchandising experience is required. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Regardless of education level, FAST Team Members must be able to read, write and count accurately.
**Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities**

**Working Conditions**
+ Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
+ Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours
+ Traveling between store locations in your personal vehicle is required; often with long periods of time
+ Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines
+ Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
+ Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack).
+ Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
+ Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
+ Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
+ Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
+ Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
+ Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
+ Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
