Construction Site Superintendent

StaffBuffalo is hiring a full-time Construction Site Superintendent for a well-established construction company based in the Buffalo, NY area. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on leader with a background in construction management or heavy civil construction who’s ready to take charge of daily field operations. With a salary range of $70,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience, this role offers competitive compensation, strong benefits, and a chance to grow with a respected industry leader.

In this role, you’ll oversee job site activity, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and ensure that projects stay on schedule, on budget, and in line with safety and quality expectations. While experience in deep foundation work is a plus, it’s not required — the company is willing to train the right person who brings the right attitude and leadership potential. Candidates should have at least a 2-year degree in Construction Management and/or equivalent hands-on experience in field supervision within heavy civil construction environments.

Travel is a required part of this position, with job sites located mostly throughout New York State. This is a full-time, on-site role based out of the Buffalo/Western NY area, and the ideal candidate should be comfortable working in the field as part of a boots-on-the-ground team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities on active job sites
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment
  • Monitor site safety, productivity, and quality control
  • Maintain daily reports, progress tracking, and communication with project management
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and estimators to ensure plans are executed accurately
  • Travel regularly (approx. 60%) to project sites across New York State, (home on weekends).

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction field supervision and a 2-year degree in Construction Management preferred
  • Heavy civil construction experience strongly preferred
  • Leadership qualities with a proactive, team-focused mindset
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple crews and site logistics
  • Experience with Procore and Excel
  • Ability to travel regularly across NYS and work onsite
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety and performance

   Job Summary:          Provide overall leadership for on-site field administration, supervision, and technical management for all construction operations including direct supervision of foremen, trade/subcontractors and other construction related personnel.  Direct them in planning, coordination and execution of work on time, within budget, attaining or exceeding profit goals, maintaining a safe workplace, promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company image.
 
Responsibilities:          The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required of personnel so classified.

1.      Assist in development of project schedule and communicate sequence and schedule updates to all subcontractors and vendors.
2.      Maintain and enforce a project site logistics, and temporary facilities plan.
3.      Maintain and enforce a project site specific safety program in accordance with Policies and Processes, OSHA requirements, local, state, and federal laws to include all subcontractors.
4.      Maintain and enforce a project specific quality assurance and workmanship program to include all subcontractors.
5.      Manage any/all OSHA site visits.
6.      Participate with project management on issuance of all monthly progress reports, monthly payment applications, and pending documents.
7.      Install standardized project signage from Corporate Marketing and other required identification material.
8.      Perform and monitor all jobsite control reporting measures including daily reports, monthly reports, accident reports, and time sheets.
9.      Maintain an accurate set of As-builts for all mechanicals.
10.   Coordinate and manage all material deliveries, subcontractors, and self-performed work.
11.   Ensure timely project completion through project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries and the management of material and document submittals/approvals.
12.   Coordinate daily construction activities within existing operating facilities
13.   Execute a plan for monitoring and completing punchlist items.  Coordinate all required field inspections.
14.   Provide technical assistance to all members of project team.
15.   Develop and mentor subordinates towards a successful career with the company.
16.   Promote the growth and development of client, subcontractor and vendor relationships.
17.   Identify new work opportunities and inform Sales and Marketing of potential projects with current clients.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of Delivery, the Site Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all on-site activities for our commercial construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality standards and adhering to regulations. This role is client-facing and will work collaboratively with franchise owners, trades, subcontractors, building officials, and the other Archmill House/Solutions team members. This position requires extensive travel and onsite work based upon project schedule. Projects typically last from one to four weeks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Supervision: Oversee day-to-day operations at construction sites, ensuring adherence to plans, schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Team Management: Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, laborers, and other construction-related personnel, providing guidance and direction to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Quality Control: Monitor work progress and quality, conduct regular inspections, and address any issues or deviations from plans to maintain high construction standards. Own the Re-Image brand standards and ensure projects are completed to client satisfaction.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, protocols, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of project progress, including daily reports, work logs, and incident reports.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between project managers, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and resolving any project-related issues promptly.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve problems that may arise during construction, such as unexpected delays, conflicts, or technical issues, while keeping project timelines intact.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or similar role in commercial construction projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate execution and compliance with the design and scope requirements.
  • Experience in constructability analysis, identifying potential issues early and providing clear guidance to trades
  • Maintain a high sense of urgency and adaptability to manage fast paced project timelines.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore).
  • Relevant certifications or licenses are advantageous.
  • Must have a valid passport.

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 90% of the time.
  • Required to work in a construction setting which contains loud noises.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Required to remain standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects >35lbs.
  • At times, overnight work is required based on project needs.
