Northrop Grumman is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to maintain and enhance Linux Systems and Infrastructure in support of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. NASIC is responsible for creating all-source intelligence defining the present and future air, air defense, cyber, space and ballistic missile threats to enable military operations, force modernization, and policy making.

Summary of Responsibility

You will be an active part of a team of System, Network, and Storage Administrators who collaborate to support a large development infrastructure that replicates a wide variety of customer environments to include Linux and Windows. The team manages the hardware, software, network, security, and end user support for a wide range of tools and infrastructure. This environment includes ever growing opportunities with modernization such as Cloud technologies and DevOps CI/CD pipelines. You will be primarily focused on Linux Systems Administration and be prepared for supporting a production environment on site at NASIC/WPAFB once properly cleared to support mission critical needs.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Administrator:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 2 years of experience OR Master's degree with 0 years of experience OR a high school diploma or GED equivalent with 6 years of experience

  • Minimum of three years of experience with Systems Administration for Linux Operating Systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Rocky Linux.

  • Able to obtain IAT Level II certification such as CASP+ or Security+ within 90 days

  • U.S. citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance

JOB SUMMARY:

The Linux Systems Engineer will have expert level experience in configuration and operational support of RHEL servers in an AWS EC2 environment and will help contribute to an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions that includes a background in all aspects of the systems engineering in a cloud environment. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Configuration and operational support of RHEL servers in an AWS EC2 environment
  • Install Linux and Windows servers in a virtualized environment, troubleshoot hardware/software installation and basic networking issues
  • Setting up and managing Linux and Windows systems, applications and environments and ensuring those systems comply with government security standards

Linux Systems Engineer

A Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for building and automating performant and resilient infrastructure that our business depends on. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to one or more areas including (but not limited to) better automating our virtualized infrastructure and supporting a containerized infrastructure. To support our team, you will need to be experienced, driven, and have strong coding skills in automation. What You'll Do

  • Take a leadership role in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure.

  • Mature the automation efforts of the lifecycle of a server including onboarding, patching, and sunsetting.

  • Build and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure.

  • Use and administer automation tools such as, Ansible and Salt

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Infrastructure as Code, specifically managing Salt or Ansible

  • Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible.

The likely salary range for this position is $133,369 - $180,441. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
