About the Position

Position Overview:
Perform receiving, pasteurization, separation, batching, sanitation, clean-in-place, maintenance and record-keeping functions in various manufacturing departments. Comply with NY State Ag & Markets, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and GMP policies. Carry out special projects as required. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering, production, quality and sanitation personnel to trouble-shoot quality related issues when they arise.
  • Work with technical experts to gain complete knowledge of processing/manufacturing equipment operation, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Communicate technical and analytical data using reports, charts, graphs, etc. as required.
  • Prioritize assignments and independently manage time to satisfy business needs.
  • Participate in work teams to generate the most cost-effective solutions within each manufacturing department.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of productivity, quality and safety. Generate corrective action requests and document change requests when necessary.
  • Complete and manage production generated paperwork.
  • Set up analytical/testing equipment and perform required daily calibrations.
  • Prepare standard solutions and reagents as required.
  • Complete all chemical titration testing as required within the sanitation program.
  • Utilize proper chemical handling procedures.
  • Maintain the manufacturing plant in a safe and organized condition at all times.
  • Always work in a safe manner resulting in no work-related injuries.
  • Maintain equipment and area cleanliness to ensure compliance with all GMP standards.
  • Assist quality, sanitation, warehouse and maintenance personnel as required.

+ Correctly document processes as required by standard operating procedure, including manual and electronic logs, forms, and labels.

**Job Description**
As a Process Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customer orders are accurately filled and dispatched promptly. You will engage in general warehouse duties, including cleaning, washing hoses, handling drums, filling liquid chemical orders, and operating material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts. This position primarily involves managing liquid chemicals used for water treatment, with an opportunity to cross-train in mixing solid and liquid chemicals.
**Responsibilities**
+ Take direction from the shift manager to fill orders, including filling totes or drums with liquid chemicals, staging them at the dock, and loading trucks upon arrival.
+ Clean hoses, tidy up the warehouse, and clean drums as required after completing daily orders.
+ Use electronic pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts to move finished totes or palletized drums and stage them in labeled rows.
+ Accurately complete paperwork including process conditions, test results, instrument readings, and shipping documents.
+ Spend time washing out used totes, disposing of used totes, and cutting down and washing trashed drums to address backlog work.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience operating a sit-down forklift for at least 6 months.
+ Experience in manufacturing or production jobs, or similar labor-intensive roles.
+ Customer focus and attention to detail for correct labeling and item selection.
+ Willingness and ability to work outside for tasks such as drum washing.
+ Steel-toed shoes for safety.
+ Ability to take direct feedback on work performance and processes.
+ Comfort working with chemicals, adhering to safety procedures.
+ Ability to shave facial hair to fit into a respirator if needed.

As a Process Operator you will support FFP Unit Operations. You will be responsible for all process control and unit operations within assigned area and Analyze routine operating and analytical problems, exercises judgment, and takes appropriate action. You will also initiate corrective action for substandard performance in processes/equipment.
**During your 12-hour rotating shift as a Process Operator, you will.**
+ Maintain control of process and unit operations, including sample collection and laboratory testing.
+ Interpret and act on analytical results to keep processes within set parameters.
+ Communicate abnormalities and corrective actions to Supervisor through logs and verbal updates, and follow Supervisor instructions.
+ Troubleshoot operational, quality, safety, and environmental issues, and initiate maintenance notifications as needed.
+ Coordinate with other operators for support and assist in training of personnel.
+ Manage mechanical activities, including equipment clearance, tagging, monitoring job progress, and accepting equipment after maintenance.
+ Cross-train to cover other operator positions as directed by Supervisor.
+ Comply with plant safety rules and EH&S policies, and respond immediately to leaks or spills.
+ Keep updated on equipment and procedural changes and maintain thorough operational knowledge, especially for emergency procedures.
+ Participate in the Emergency Response Team for Fire and HAZMAT, and engage in related training, with opportunities for advancement through demonstrated competency.
**If you have.**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in production operations.
+ Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
+ Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable.
