**Position Overview:**
Fellowship will entail two concurrent components equally weighted under the supervision of the Psychologist: 1) a research and education component 2) a clinical psychology training fellowship under Psychologist supervision. In accordance with established guidelines, this fellowship will be the equivalent of two full years (24 months) of education and training in clinical psychology and psychology-related disciplines. Provides assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning services for patients with medical and developmental disorders resulting in emerging skills and potential for independence in autonomous decision making, assessment, treatment planning, evidence based interventions, and inter/intra community resource coordination.

Doctorate: psychology
**TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:**
5 years recent relevant experience.
**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:**
Knowledge of human development, psychological treatment, and intervention modalities with children, adolescents and adults.
Knowledge of psychosocial factors relevant to mental health, such as personality, human growth and development; interpersonal relationships; group process; family dynamics; community integration and socioeconomic resource provisions, including the relevance of these factors for personal change in treatment.
Knowledge of and adherence to American Psychological Association ethical standards.
Knowledge of the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, and psychotherapeutic modalities and interventions, including psychotropic medications.
Ability to effectively work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment problems of children, adolescents, adults and their families.
Ability to cooperatively work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Pediatric Psychology fellows have opportunities to provide patient care across our outpatient clinics and 9-story pediatric medical hospital. Time is devoted to the departments of Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, and Rheumatology and fellows develop a strong working relationship within these interdisciplinary teams. Fellows carry a caseload of patients in each clinic while also providing inpatient services for the respective departments. Clinical work includes providing individual therapy and family sessions to support coping with chronic health conditions, coping with new medical diagnoses, psychological factors impacting medical treatment, adherence, coping with hospitalization, and other. Interest in program development, strong clinical skills, and relevant training experiences in a medical setting are desired. A qualitative project will be chosen by the fellow at the start of the year and carried throughout.
Projected start date is September 2024. Salary and benefits are competitive.

**A Brief Overview**
Responsible to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention of acute, chronic or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Provides clinical consultation services, community education services. Some travel may be required.
**What you will do**
+ Performs the following essential functions under the supervision of a licensed psychologist:
+ Coordinates a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment or referral of clients/patients presenting moderate to severe social adjustment problems. Adheres to policies which assure the confidentiality of client communications. Provide for a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to the treatment of clients, coordinating same with appropriate hospital departments.
+ Conducts individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association. Assesses progress of clients/patients and modify or extend treatment program accordingly. Coordinates care of clients/patients with referring physician or agency. Documents therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures on medical records.
+ Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes and other instances as outlined in hospital policy. Refers client or patient to outside agencies where appropriate.
+ Communicates with family members/significant others in order to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress. Coordinates client/patient billing and modify treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay. Develops and Coordinates a system and signage by supervisor as needed as it relates to billable services within the medical record of patients. Meet with Director for scheduled supervision sessions.
+ Provides educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.
+ Administers and interprets psychological assessment instruments and outcomes.
+ Follows through with attending regularly scheduled weekly supervision session with assigned supervisor and/or psychology director. Alerts psychology director to any issues or concerns as it relates to policies, procedures, client issues and/or clinic problems.
+ Attends at least 50% of the Psychology Section meetings.
