The Research Department at Cambridge Health Alliance advances the organization's mission by supporting applied services and clinical research that promote health equity, improved delivery of mental health services to adults, youth and children, and community well-being. The department collaborates with a wide range of partners, including other research labs at CHA, other academic partners, including other Harvard Psychiatry Departments, community organizations, health systems, and public agencies. With multidisciplinary expertise, the individuals in the research department assist in the design, implementation and administration of rigorous, community-informed projects that generate actionable insights and drive positive, data-informed change.
The Health Equity Research Lab (HERLab) is a health services research center connected to the Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance Department of Psychiatry that is made up of an interdisciplinary group of researchers and clinicians dedicated to conducting research to improve physical and mental health in diverse communities.
Summary:
Working under the general direction of the Associate Director and Principal Investigators the RA will provide administrative support to research projects.
Responsibilities include:
+ Participates in and supports the planning, development, and implementation of ongoing research projects as programmed by the researchers and principal investigator(s);
+ Assists in grant writing and grant submissions working in collaboration with the PI and other researchers;
+ Assists in manuscript preparation and submission to journals;
+ Assists in providing administrative support to the research team by scheduling meetings and setting up conference calls;
+ Works closely with the operations manager as support for hiring and orienting new researchers, volunteers or summer students;
+ Manage summer interns and volunteers;
+ When required, help with the recruitment, interviews and follow up of research subjects. In addition, coordinate with community partners and other research team members;
+ Collect pertinent and updated literature for different projects and publications;
+ Development and corresponding tracking of IRB documentation;
+ Assist in graphic, tables and other presentation of research data;
+ Review, analyze, and synthesize existing literature and translate results of the literature review into 'everyday' language for mass audiences.

This role entails conducting advanced research focused on CLN5 activators and PLA2G15 inhibitors, both of which are significant in the field of biochemical research. As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for various tasks, including assay development, high-throughput screening, data analysis, collaboration with other researchers, and the preparation of reports and manuscripts. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to world-class research activities and initiatives.
**In this role, you will** **:**
+ Independently conduct a portion of the research project(s). Make recommendations on experimental design and/or research direction to principal investigator.
+ Independently conduct complex (lab and/or field) experiments to gather data for a portion of a major research project.
+ Interpret and analyze results, often where few guidelines exist, and make modifications to existing procedures and protocols.
+ Develop new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required.
+ Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section, and to publication of findings. Present ongoing work to colleagues and/or academic conferences.
+ Work with health and safety department to ensure lab complies with regulations and all required trainings.

**Stanford University's Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) is one of the nation's leading interdisciplinary, university-based research and training centers addressing critical international security issues. The Center draws on scholars from a range of disciplines, integrating political, regional, and scientific expertise in international affairs, and applying this expertise to policy-relevant solutions.**
**POSITION SUMMARY:**
The Research Assistant will provide dedicated support to the Program on Geopolitics, Technology, and Governance (GTG) at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), part of Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). This role combines both research support and program coordination for GTG's activities focused on the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and governance.
Key responsibilities include preparing research memoranda, contributing to GTG scholarship, and conducting original research under the direction of program faculty. The Research Assistant will also manage operational tasks such as coordinating meetings, assisting with HR processes for student RA hiring, supporting grant application development, maintaining the GTG website, and serving as the main point of contact for GTG-related events in collaboration with the CISAC events team.
This is a one-year, fixed-term, benefits-eligible position.
**CORE DUTIES:**
+ Plan and perform research tasks requiring initiative and judgment by applying basic knowledge and understanding of scientific theory when precedents do not provide specific guidance. General instruction provided by the supervisor as needed. May interpret study results in collaboration with supervisor or PI.
+ Participate in the development and administration of survey instruments and rating scales requiring judgment in applying non-routine procedures. Analyze and summarize results for review with supervisor. Audit the accuracy and validity of data.
+ Review and audit case report forms for completion and accuracy with source documents, and ensure compliance with research protocols.
+ Identify, select, extract and summarize data and structured information. Present summary of findings to supervisor.
+ Conduct literature searches, and write literature summaries and manuscripts, requiring preliminary judgments after the supervisor outlines conceptual approach.
+ Build and organize data as requested by principal investigator or supervisor; use common statistical programs requiring the application of job control language in generating and organizing data.

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a Part-Time Research Assistant to support our growing portfolio of projects in medical device prototyping and surgical simulation.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a background in biomedical engineering or a related field and a passion for rapid prototyping and translational research. This role is perfect for a recent biomedical engineering graduate or a current student with flexible availability and strong technical aptitude.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Conduct comprehensive background research including:
+ Literature reviews on surgical techniques simulation models and medical technologies
+ Market and competitive landscape analysis
+ Prior art and existing solution searches (e.g. patent databases academic journals)
+ Assist in rapid prototyping workflows including:
+ Operating and maintaining 3D printers (FDM SLA)
+ Post-processing printed parts and preparing prototypes
+ Silicone molding and casting techniques
+ Support 3D modeling of devices and anatomical models using SolidWorks Blender and Meshmixer
+ Assist in sourcing and selecting components materials and fabrication vendors
+ Help develop implement and document test plans and results for evaluation of novel product prototypes
+ Collaborate with engineers physicians and other hospital staff to iterate on design and usability
**Qualifications**
**Minimum:**
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field ( **recent graduates encouraged to apply** )
Experience with:
+ SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software) ○ Python and/or C++ for basic prototyping or automation tasks
+ 3D printing technologies and associated post-processing methods

**Position Summary**
Under direction, provides research, data analysis and operational support to principal investigators and research coordinators for clinical research studies
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Coordinates the recruitment and enrollment of study participants. Assesses patient eligibility for inclusion in clinical trials. Ensures proper consent protocols have been followed for study participation.
+ Assists with departmental mailings, including patient medical records. Ensures accuracy of recipient contact information and location for correct delivery.
+ Conducts literature reviews and gains expert familiarity with protocols that will be used as templates.
+ Assists in creation of study database.
+ Manages and enters collected data into study database.
+ Conducts qualitative coding and thematic analysis of study data.
