GENERAL SUMMARY

The SEO Specialist owns the universitys end-to-end organic-search strategy, planning, implementing, and optimizing technical SEO, content enhancements, and CRO tests across web properties to drive organic growth and lead generation. Blending strong technical SEO, strategic content optimization, and light experimentation, the role boosts search visibility, site engagement, and pipeline results while safeguarding accessibility and brand compliance. Success comes through close collaboration with agency partners, web developers, designers, content creators, the IT team, and broader marketing stakeholders.

This position is hybrid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Search & Content Optimization

  • Perform keyword & competitive research; create briefs for writers/designers as needed
  • Optimize on-page elements (metadata, headers, schema, internal links, images/alt).
  • Work with agency and brand partners to align content with search intent and brand voice.
  • Execute content updates on the site as needed.

Technical SEO & Site Health

  • Run monthly technical audits (crawl errors, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, structured data, XML sitemaps).
  • Partner with Web team to implement fixes, monitor re-indexing, and submit new content for indexing while safeguarding brand standards and regulatory compliance.

Conversion-Rate Optimization

  • Work with agency partner and web team to ideate, run, and analyze A/B or multivariate tests (forms, CTAs, layouts, etc.) across core lead generation pages.
  • Translate findings into UX recommendations that lift inquiries, applications, or email captures.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Work with agency partner to ensure end-to-end tracking is in place, from click through lead, across Google Tag Manager, Marketo, and Salesforce.
  • Track KPIs in GA4, GSC, SEMrush, and PowerBI; connect keyword and traffic performance to web engagement and conversion actions.
  • Deliver monthly what / so what / now what insight decks with recommendations.

Continuous Improvement, Governance, and Collaboration

  • Maintain SEO Standard Operating Processes (SOPs), audit checklists, and a prioritized backlog of optimization opportunities.
  • Monitor algorithm updates, emerging AI search behaviors, and industry best practices; refresh playbooks accordingly.
  • Coordinate with agencies and internal teams (Web, Design, Content, IT, etc.) to scope tasks, secure assets, and ensure timely execution of SEO & CRO recommendations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic JavaScript familiarity for event tracking and schema implementation.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Analytics IQ, HubSpot, SEMrush Academy).
  • Proven experience in SEO or digital marketing roles.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret performance metrics and draw insights.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and measuring the success of our overall SEO strategy to increase organic visibility, traffic, clicks, and conversions. This role requires a deep understanding of all facets of SEO, strong leadership capabilities to manage a specialized team, and a proven ability to translate data into actionable insights and tangible results, particularly within the SaaS landscape.

This position is hybrid (3 days per week in office) and is located in Austin, Texas.

What will you be doing?

  • SEO Strategy Development & Execution: Define, own, and drive the comprehensive SEO strategy and roadmap encompassing technical SEO, content strategy, keyword strategy, link building, and on-page optimization for multiple company websites.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SEO specialists, including direct management of technical and content SEO resources. Foster a collaborative environment, set clear goals, and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish key SEO performance indicators (KPIs), create and maintain dashboards, analyze performance data, and deliver regular, insightful reports to stakeholders and executive leadership on traffic, rankings, conversions, and ROI.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize web analytics, SEO tools, and competitor analysis to identify opportunities, inform strategic decisions, test hypotheses, and measure the impact of SEO initiatives.
  • Drive Organic Growth: Be accountable for achieving ambitious organic traffic and conversion growth targets across all managed web properties.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Content, Product, Engineering, and Web Development teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into web development, content creation, website design, and marketing campaigns.
  • Technical SEO Oversight: Guide the technical SEO roadmap, ensuring websites are optimized for crawlability, indexability, schema markup, site speed, mobile-friendliness, and other technical ranking factors.
  • Content Strategy Alignment: Collaborate with content creators and the Content SEO Specialist to ensure content is optimized for search engines, aligns with user intent, and supports keyword strategy.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay current with the latest SEO trends, shift to AI search, algorithm updates, industry best practices, and competitor strategies, particularly within the SaaS and e-commerce/shipping sectors.
  • Budget Management: Manage the SEO budget effectively, including tool subscriptions and potential agency/contractor relationships.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with content writing resources (both internally and on the client) to produce high-quality, research-backed content in line with SEO strategy
  • Write high-quality website content, including new articles and landing pages
  • Identify new SEO opportunities that will drive success for our clients
  • Perform SEO assessments/audits of clients websites, including technical site components, content strategy, and competitor analysis
  • Implement on-page SEO optimizations such as headers, metadata, schema, etc.
  • Work with developers to implement technical SEO deliverables, such as 301 redirects, canonical issues, image compression, site speed, etc.
  • Analyze clients web analytics performance, write up performance analysis reports, and present reports to clients
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements :
  • 1+ years of relevant SEO experience
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Analytics, English/Writing, or Communications; or relevant experience through school and/or internships
  • Ability to extract meaningful insights from data analysis and make specific SEO recommendations
  • Some experience with Google Analytics and Google Search console
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Familiar with best practices for technical SEO components such as schema, canonicals, Core Web Vitals, and XML sitemaps

Office Hours

This role is based out of our Austin office. We work on a hybrid basis at our office location, with three days per week working in the office and two days per week working from home. The Senior Manager, SEO & AIO will report to the Senior Director of Digital Scaled Marketing and work closely with the SEO team, SEM Team, content writers, marketing technology, and business leads from the demand generation team. This role will also work with internal stakeholders, vendors and development teams to drive the expansion ServiceNow's digital footprint across organic search platforms. This is a people-manger position where you'll manage the SEO team and drive forward results cross-functionally including through AIO.

  • Set appropriate goals, timelines, and paths to improving each component of the program

  • Perform keyword research in coordination with business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities
