Job Description
The position requires detailed written or oral guidance to resolve common operating problems. As part of the Quality Assurance (QA) program team at the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), several iterations of testing are performed on IT work and infrastructure changes.
Quality Assurance or QA Testing
QA testing occurs post-development and is executed by a member(s) of the NSSC QA team. If available and possible, QA testing is performed in a segregated QA environment. Testing is executed on a change-by-change basis - testing the changes associated to a single story or request (code, data, content, etc. changes), or a group of closely related stories/requests:
+ Requested Changes
+ Incidents and Problems
+ Infrastructure Changes
+ Documentation of Results
Functional Testing
Functional testing occurs once all work in a given deliverable/package is complete. This testing is facilitated by the QA team and is executed by designated representatives of the impacted functional area(s). Functional Testing is executed in a segregated TEST environment. All associated timelines and deadlines will be communicated via email from the QA team when testing is initially triggered, and reminders are sent throughout the testing window.
Post-Production Validation
Post-production validation is normally used for infrastructure changes and is leveraged only when deemed necessary. It is intended to verify the production environment is stable after a major change. Post-production validation is facilitated by the QA team and is executed by the designated functional representatives. In an effort to minimize the impact to operations, it is performed afterhours whenever possible. Communication, including testing results, are handled via email unless otherwise requested. Issues are reported via incidents.
Daily tasks include:
+ Attending Daily Stand Ups, Sprints and Tech Refinements.
+ Testing of Stories, Incidents, Requested Changes and Infrastructure Changes in the Service Now QA environment.
+ Producing and managing Test Plans, including all coordination with the Functional Testers, Developers and Product Owners.
+ Producing and working Defects during the test period.
+ Documenting Test Results and closing our Change Review Tasks.
