Position Overview

As a Space Technology Subject Matter Expert with MTSI you will be a lead advisor to DoD program managers and technical directors for the evaluation and transition of advanced space systems.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Provide direct support to a Department of Defense customer for the Space Security and Defense Program.
  • Provide advice, technical guidance and expertise to program staff in the following areas:
    • Space-based systems
    • Multi-domain systems
    • Classified technology transition
  • Initiate, supervise, and/or develop requirements from a project's inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs.
  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff.
  • Provide detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues.
Required Qualifications
  • 15 years of relevant DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience with no less than five (5) years' experience in a SAP and/or SCI environment.
  • Experience must include space technology, space architectures, air-space integration, and space control systems.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to take initiative, work independently and recognize management issues that need to be elevated.
  • Excellent oral, written, and reporting communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced, and highly dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain deadline punctuality during pressurized situations.
Minimum Educational Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a science, engineering, or technical field.
  • Ph.D. degree in a science, engineering, or technical field (Desired).
Clearance Requirements
  • Top Secret, SCI Eligible; SAP experience within last 5 years or SCI in lieu of.

  • Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of group of over 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
  • Work directly with or as a Team Lead and associated Electrical Engineers on a given project.
  • Support new designs from conception, analysis, and manufacturing, through to operational test and deployment.
  • Provide design support and guidance in various aspects of Electronics System Development.
  • Be familiar with NASA specifications for Electronics Component development.
  • Develop component test stand architectures for various components.
  • Design and generate electrical component and lab instrumentation test system designs.
  • Develop and or modify LabVIEW code for various test systems.
  • Develop detailed test verification procedures.
  • Work with electrical and mechanical technicians to build and test designed systems.
  • Develop and test various breakout boxes and digital/analog sensor emulation systems.
  • Perform electrical evaluation/selection of instrumentation (pressure transducers, flow meters, pumps, fans, RTDs, Thermocouples, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing test systems.
  • Conduct analog and digital printed circuit board design for various application needs.
  • Develop test software modules to perform specific tests.
  • Work with an eCAD designer to develop printed circuit board designs.
  • Work in a laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Requisition Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience with Power Supply Design, Power supply soft start circuit design, and switching regulators
  • Prior experience with power supply remote senses, power distribution for PCB layout, Power Supply Phase Impedance measurements, and Power Supply efficiency calculation.
  • Prior experience in test of power supply and conditioning systems.
  • Prior experience with bonding and grounding
  • Prior experience with circuit design of analog PCB, digital PCB, and power PCB.
  • Prior experience with electrical schematic entry and printed circuit board layout tools such as Altium Designer, and version control software like Subversion (SVN).
  • Prior experience with data acquisition systems (especially National Instruments) and LabVIEW code development
  • Hands on experience in the design, build, and test of embedded systems
  • Prior experience with circuit simulation tools such as Pspice, OrCAD, Multisim etc.
  • Experience with hardware and VHDL-based development for Space applications
  • Knowledge with Linux application/embedded code development.
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and programming in C/C++ and Python.

  • Prior experience with JSC standards and processes

  • Prior experience with design and testing cable harnesses, design and testing of analog instrumentation systems, design and testing of stepper and brushless DC-DC control circuits, and design and testing of power supply and conditioning systems.
  • Experience with test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers
  • Prior experience in design and test of analog instrumentation systems
  • Project based experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting power distribution electronics, battery systems, and other electrical hardware (requirements definition, system modeling and simulation; circuit analysis; PCB design, fabrication, and assembly; harness design and fabrication; requirements verification)

Raytheon’s Advanced Technology (AT) business is seeking an Associate Director, Advanced Technology Requirements & Capabilities (R&C) – Effectors & Space (E&S) Advanced Emerging Technologies (AET) to lead business development efforts in a high-priority growth area. The Associate Director will play a critical role in shaping and advancing strategic pursuits across the Advanced Emerging Technologies portfolio by identifying new opportunities, building customer relationships, and aligning internal capabilities with mission needs.

As a member of the AT R&C team, the Associate Director will be responsible for driving early engagement with customers, translating mission requirements into actionable strategies, and influencing program development and investment decisions. This role demands strong technical acumen in launched effectors, enabling technologies, deep market insight, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, program management, and strategy teams to position Raytheon for long-term success in a rapidly evolving threat environment. The Associate Director reports to the AT R&C Director for Effectors and Space.

What You Will Do

  • Build and sustain deep customer intimacy with the DoD customer and other government agencies, maintaining awareness of their evolving mission needs, strategic objectives, and satisfaction with Raytheon’s solutions
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s budget landscape, long-term investment priorities, and acquisition strategies—translating insights into actionable guidance for Raytheon
  • Guide and support RTX and Raytheon teams in solving complex customer challenges, facilitating timely and impactful solutions that strengthen mission trust and deepen partnerships
  • Serve as the escalation point for customer-facing issues and lead efforts to deliver exceptional customer service experiences—resolving concerns with professionalism, ownership, and urgency
  • Drive disciplined Business Development (BD) processes across the team, ensuring effective execution of opportunity identification, shaping, and pipeline management, while leading or supporting gates, milestone reviews and color team reviews
  • Oversee the development of high-quality customer briefings, capture strategies, proposals, and related artifacts to ensure alignment with customer needs, competitive positioning, and Raytheon strategy

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 12 years prior Aerospace and Defense industry experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Prior U.S. Navy experience as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) or Submarine Warfare Officer (Submariner) with experience with fleet operations, mission execution, and warfighting doctrine
  • Minimum of 3 years of business development, capture management or program management within a program office managing effectors or 3+ years’ experience in requirements generation, and resource sponsorship managing effectors
  • Experience working in classified environments to include Special Access Required (SAR)
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

We are seeking a motivated Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Systems Engineer with a strong background in Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) to join our multidisciplinary aerospace engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates with 2–5 years of experience in requirements development, derivation, implementation, and verification who are looking to expand into the specialized field of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).

If selected, as an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Systems Engineer you will:

  • Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of a group of 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.

  • Work with other EMI/EMC engineers in support of the Avionics Division on-site at NASA Johnson Space Center.

  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and test engineering teams to ensure our systems meet stringent EMI/EMC and E3 compliance standards, while also contributing to system-level integration and verification activities. Your work will ensure system resilience against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and compatibility (EMC) challenges, supporting both product development and testing across multiple programs.

  • Develop, derive, and maintain system-level E3 requirements from customer specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure E3 considerations are integrated early in the development lifecycle.

  • Proactively identify missed, ambiguous, or conflicting requirements and work with stakeholders to resolve gaps.

  • Create and execute verification plans, including test procedures for EMI/EMC compliance.

  • Conduct and participate in formal safety reviews, ensuring compliance with safety-critical design and operational requirements.

  • Support requirements traceability using tools such as IBM DOORS or equivalent.

  • Participate in design reviews and technical interchange meetings, presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Analyze test data and prepare clear, concise technical reports.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve E3-related issues during integration and test phases.

Requisition Qualifications
