Job Summary

The Account Manager must sell CEMEX's line of products and act as a CEMEX business representative in the marketplace. The Account Manager is also responsible for the profitability of their accounts.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage complex assignments to develop new and/or enhanced operating procedures, troubleshoot technical issues and minimize impact to daily operations.

  • Drive new process and procedure development and/or enhancements of existing processes and procedures. Partner with management to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and demand for new and existing products.

  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities, investigate practices, and develop and implement process improvements that will improve operational productivity.

  • Manage project budgets, job estimates, and milestones to ensure goals and commitments are met in accordance with project plans. Analyze costs related to capital expenditures to determine breakeven points, payback and associated hard and soft savings.

  • Conduct training, when appropriate, on engineering concepts and tools, including but not limited to statistics, kaizen, six sigma, DMAIC, time studies, and observations.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on content, process, and procedures, possibly at multiple locations. May have international responsibilities as business need requires.

  • Responsible for the integration of systems and processes including workflow design, functional requirements, test plans, and production issues.

  • Forecast operating costs of department and complete preparation of budget requests.

Required Experience
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.

Work Experience

The anticipated salary range for this position:


$115,440.00 - $173,160.00 Annual


The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.

As an Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Operations Manager , you will enable high performance of the supply chain facility by fostering a reliability-centered maintenance culture within your team that ensures high equipment availability and success for the operation of the supply chain facility. You will provide strong leadership to your Maintenance Technicians, Utility Attendants and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Software Technicians, and will cultivate a sense of urgency and quality focus. You will deliver solutions for challenging problems, work with building leaders to optimize use of material handling equipment, manage external contractors, be on call for emergencies, handle multiple projects and daily activities, and meet tough timelines. You will develop a continuous improvement ethic in your team by following a daily process that is data driven and focused on root cause elimination. You will improve the reliability of the system through ownership in defect handling, breakdown elimination and planning and scheduling. You will collaborate with the other department leaders to accomplish engineering and maintenance departmental goals.

You will be responsible for the leadership & development, coaching, and performance management of the team. This includes providing frequent constructive and critical feedback on work quality to enhance individual performance, providing guidance and direction to help them and the department achieve goals, and administering performance management and reviews. You will oversee all onboarding and completion of required training for new hires and support overall continued enhancement of the team’s capability. You will own accuracy and timeliness of performance metrics within your shift and will develop and communicate shift hand-offs to ensure continuity of maintenance efforts within the whole Engineering & Facilities team. You will conduct safety investigations and incident after action reviews to determine root causes. You will manage the overall health, reliability, and life cycle management for all of the site commodities (material handling equipment, lighting, power distribution, backup generators, fire suppression and notification systems, balers, compactors, compressors, dock doors, HVAC, Over The Road (OTR) trailer fleet, Powered Industrial Truck fleet). You will approve financial expenditures for parts within corporate guidelines and will validate the quality of work performed by external contractors for repairs or projects. You will ensure data integrity and adherence to Asset Management standards. Overview

DEFINITION Under general direction from the City Engineer, or Principal Civil Engineer, to assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for the design and construction of public works projects including Streets, Signals, Traffic Control Systems, Traffic Management, Parks, City Facilities, and City Water/Wastewater Systems; to serve as project manager on engineering project design and implementation; to ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and to provide complex assistance to the City Engineer and/or Principal Civil Engineer; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Senior Civil Engineer is the advanced level within the professional Engineering Series, which may serve as the lead over a section such as Land Development or Capital Improvement Projects within the Public Works Engineering Division. This class is distinguished from the higher level Principal Civil Engineer by the responsibility of the later class to serve as a supervisor over multiple sections, or over Traffic Engineering. The Senior Civil Engineer is further distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the responsibility for a functional area of the Engineering Division (e.g. Land Development or Capital Improvement Projects) and the management of work and multiple projects through assigned team members. Incumbents assigned to this class may exercise functional and technical supervision over assigned staff, and oversight of the projects and activities associated with the area of assignment. The application of professional knowledge and skills is required in the research, analysis, planning, and implementation of effective engineering programs, and requires frequent use of independent judgment. The work frequently requires attending meetings and hearings, and making presentations to City Council, business and community groups. Assigned duties and responsibilities will require work to be performed during and outside of normal office hours, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS — Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the work of staff and/or consultants responsible for providing professional engineering services in the design and construction of public works projects including Streets, Signals, Traffic Control Systems, Traffic Management, Parks, City Facilities, and City Water/Wastewater Systems for assigned section.
  • Assists in establishing schedules and methods for providing engineering services in conjunction with City Engineer; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly.
  • Prepares and/or reviews professional civil engineering designs for assigned projects utilizing a variety of computer software programs; performs detailed calculations and computations; prepares and/or reviews the adequacy and accuracy of computations, preliminary layouts and design work from field and survey data.
  • Reviews and approves changes to approved plans and specifications; processes a variety of permits.
  • Exercises professional engineering judgment in accordance with currently accepted practice of civil engineering and appropriate laws and codes.
  • Serves as project manager on complex engineering studies and projects; administers construction and professional services contracts; monitors budget, inspects work in progress and conducts final inspections to accept completed work; ensures compliance with contractual obligations; reviews and approves change orders; approves progress and final payments; ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations; provides resolutions to construction problems.
  • Oversees the bidding process for capital projects including receiving applications, awarding contracts and issuing notices as assigned.
  • Reviews land development plans, subdivision maps and grading plans for compliance with applicable laws, codes and regulations as assigned.
  • Assists construction inspectors in the interpretation of plans, specifications and other contract documents as assigned.
  • Participates in the selection of technical engineering staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; provides input to employee performance evaluations; recommends disciplinary actions.
  • Participates in the preparation and administration of assigned sections or projects of the engineering program budget; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures.
  • Prepares engineering specifications, costs and quantity estimates for utility related projects; obtains required easements or permits for water and sewer system construction and utility structures as assigned.
  • Performs field reviews of proposed construction site, obtain measurements and create preliminary plans for construction as assigned.
  • Plans and supervises the collection, analysis and reporting of various traffic engineering studies.
  • Attends and participates in community meetings regarding the impact of proposed construction as assigned; responds to citizen complaints.
  • Provides staff support to the City Engineer; attends meetings of a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering.

Experience and Training Guidelines

Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Four years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience at the Associate (journey level) including two years of project management responsibility.

Training:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering or a related field.

License or Certificate:

  • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance program.
