About the Role
As a Nursing Assistant, you’ll support daily patient care needs in a way that promotes comfort, dignity, and healing. You will assist with activities of daily living, help patients maintain their independence, and ensure that every individual you care for feels respected and supported.
You’ll work 36 hours per week across day and night shifts, with a rotation that includes every other weekend and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs, document care activities, and communicate observations to nursing staff
- Support patient nutrition by delivering meals, helping with feeding, and offering appropriate food choices
- Promote safety and comfort through timely responses to call lights, proper positioning, and fall prevention strategies
- Support mobility and rehabilitation efforts, including walking, transferring, range of motion exercises, and assistive devices
- Report any physical or emotional changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff
- Collaborate effectively with nurses and the care team during shift changes to ensure consistent, high-quality care
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification (must be from AHA or RQI)
- Post-secondary education in health or human services preferred
- One to two years of experience in a health-related or customer service role
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
- Basic computer literacy and ability to document care accurately
