Responsible for client's physical assessments, exercise prescription, exercise programming and motivation, as well as proper record keeping. Responsible for being knowledgeable of standards of practice for the practice for a Personal Trainer in a medical fitness center integrated in a healthcare setting. Demonstrates critical thinking to assure the delivery of safe, quality care to adolescents, adult and geriatric clients. Responsible for excelling in courteous and respectful customer service at all times to every customer. Assures the safety of all customers. Effectively communicates with all customers. Effectively communicates & collaborates with other healthcare team members and between intra/inter departments, adheres to organizational policy and procedures, abides by regulatory/accrediting body requirements and professional practice standards. Assists with the daily operations and collecting statistics within the medical fitness center. Responsible for completing in a timely manner, all assigned tasks and duties utilizing multi-tasking skills. Responsible for assuring confidentiality of customer information and departmental information. Requirements Include Bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology, exercise science, physical education, or other related discipline degree preferred. Specific certification in personal training required (such as ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or ACE). Experience in the administration of physical assessments, exercise prescriptions, and program development. Ability to work variable days and hours as necessary. Current CPR certificate required

Assistant in the JJC Fitness Center, Activity Class Instructor

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receive and respond to messages and questions from current and prospective students.
2. Maintain cleanliness in the Fitness Center, classrooms, and equipment.
3. Wash, dry, and fold Fitness Center workout and shower towels.
4. Participate in department and college goals and objectives.
5. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to prioritize assignments and to work in a very busy, positive, fun and loud environment.
3. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
4. Must be friendly, honest, positive, outgoing individual who enjoys working with students.
5. AED/CPR current Certification current or completed upon hiring.
6. Basic computer skills.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the colleges core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. College Degree
2. Personal Trainer Certification
3. Experience with leading/developing group exercise classes for Fitness Center participants
4. Certification in various activities, Spinning, Yoga, Aerobics.
5. Experience with police POWER testing assessments.
6. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
7. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday: 7:00am 7:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am 2:00pm

Schedule determined on a semester basis
Approximately 20 hours/week
