At Sony Pictures Animation, the Animation Supervisor works closely with the Supervising Director, Supervising Producer and CG Supervisor to maintain the established Animation style of the show. The Animation Supervisor assesses storyboards and animatics to ensure they align with our CG series production pipeline and ensures creative and technical continuity with internal and Partner Studio teams. Coordinates with production to guarantee that all deliverables align with the production's schedule, technical specifications, and creative vision of the series!

- Prepare written notes, video reference and additional animation reference for handouts to our Partner Studio(s).
- Review scripts, designs and assets for potential animation complexities.
- Review rigs, facial blend shapes, phonemes and calisthenics from our Partner Studio(s).
- Guide and encourage the team during initial animation handouts to our Partner Studio(s).
- Contribute to technical breakdowns of boards and animatics to assess and ensure accurate noting and direction.
- Along with the Supervising Director, Supervising Producer and CG Supervisor, review layout and provide notes feedback to Partner Studio.
- Work with the Supervising Director on direction and camera blocking per episode.
- Supervise animation of each episode, collaborating with Partner Studio(s) and in house artists to achieve SPA's creative vision.
- Maintain involvement throughout design and asset process to ensure designs meet series needs.
- Responsible for delivery of BG reference to our Partner Studio(s) indicating shot setup, including area of the set to be used, camera, character, and prop positions.
- Responsible for ensuring animation notes are entered into Shotgrid in a timely manner, including any additional draw overs or video reference.
- Experience as an Animation Supervisor or extensive experience as an animation lead in a television series or feature pipeline
- Expert knowledge of Maya
- Experience working with overseas partner studios
- Knowledge of camera lenses to match animatic/storyboard intent

As a SCAD professor, you will be required to meet expectations of planning and preparing for teaching; maintain an active and engaged classroom environment; complete syllabus design, submission, and approval; hold office hours and midterm grade reviews; provide extra help sessions, extended-learning opportunities, and field trips; and conduct program-level assessments. The Animation Clearance Specialist manages the clearance needs on all SPA projects from pre-production through release to identify, address, and resolve all intellectual property issues, including but not limited to issues of copyright, trademark, defamation, right of publicity, right of privacy, and product use. The Animation Clearance Specialist's primary duties are to manage the day-to-day running of an animation production as it relates to the above-stated issue. This requires breaking down all scripts, script revisions, secure clearances, and reviewing all animation designs.
Responsibilities:
+ Review all scripts and script revisions to identify all items for assessment, including, but not limited to, names, quotes, references, products, specified materials, and locations etc.
+ Responsible for reviewing all of the research reports and identifying any issues that may require further research and/or investigation.
+ Perform additional research, as necessary.
+ Prepare script clearance reports, which include character assessment, identification of key issues, research of character and business names, and approval of props, set designs, and other items created by the animation team. Script Clearance reports require that hundreds of decisions be made, and the Specialist must use good judgment and discretion to ensure that SPA Productions reflect the creator's vision while at the same time following SPE policy and protecting SPA's interests.
+ Identify legal risks associated with items such as animation designs, including but not limited to, characters, businesses, locations, accessories, vehicles, and sets. Direct production on how such risks should be addressed.
+ Analyze, assess, and resolve all SCRY/SCOR items, including determining whether third-party permissions are required, whether changes/edits are required of Production, and whether the item is assessed as "permissible" or "not clear."
+ Proficient understanding of key legal agreements and deal terms, including license agreements and releases. Negotiate key legal agreements and address high-level comments from opposing counsel. Consult with studio attorneys when necessary.
+ Manage relationships with SPA productions, publicity and marketing, and other parts of the studio as it relates to clearance issues on each project.

Nature of Work The Digital Animation Center (DAC) program within the Visual Arts department in the College of Arts & Media at the University of Colorado Denver seeks a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Lecturer teaching position. This is a temporary, non-tenure track position that will teach no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department. 3D Graphics and Animation The 3D Graphics and Animation emphasis at the University of Colorado Denver is a competitive and rigorous four-year curriculum focused on preparing students to work in a wide variety of fields that use animated digital computer graphics (CG), including entertainment, film and television, gaming, medicine, and science. Examples of Work Performed Teach courses from introductory to advanced levels of 3D graphics and animation to undergraduate students in the Digital Animation Center program.
**Salary and Benefits:**
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $5,150 per 3-credit semester course.

+ Bachelor's degree in 3D animation and some relevant professional experience
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Knowledge of Autodesk's Maya and other industry standard software
+ Excellent facility with graphic design applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
+ Solid generalist skills in 3D graphics and animation
+ Ability to teach and work with a diverse student body.
**Preferred Requirements**
+ Experience teaching in a higher education environment.
+ Master's Degree in a related field.
