**Basic Qualifications**
- Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authority
**Preferred Skills/Experience**
- Five or more years' experience practicing law in a law firm, in-house legal department, or (preferably) a combination of both:
+ - Law firm experience leading complex real estate transactions, including construction and syndicated loans, as outside counsel for a regulated financial institution.
+ - In-house experience supporting commercial real estate lending businesses at a regulated financial institution.

Real Estate Practice Although this role is based in the Capitol district, the firm does a lot of their real estate legal work in the tri-state area. Great opportunity for an associate with strong pedigree to get hands on mentorship directly with MP.
This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive counsel to a sophisticated clientele and guiding them through sales of public real estate, maimimin including institutional investors, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and developers, on a broad spectrum of transformative real estate transactions.
- The successful candidate will be instrumental in spearheading intricate financing arrangements , structuring and negotiating complex joint venture agreements , and guiding clients through all
- phases of acquisitions, dispositions, and cutting-edge PropTech investments .
- Day-to-day responsibilities will encompass leading negotiations for equity investment structures , from initial fund formation to strategic exit strategies. The role also requires expertise in advising on diverse real estate financings , including construction loans, mezzanine debt, and workout scenarios.
- Furthermore, the partner will oversee development and construction processes , managing critical aspects such as zoning, permitting, and environmental due diligence.
- A significant aspect of this position involves representing a diverse array of clients across various asset classes, from commercial office spaces and retail properties to multi-family, industrial, hospitality, and healthcare facilities.
- Leveraging prior in-house counsel experience, the partner will deliver seamless and strategic advice, including navigating high-stakes matters like hotel mezzanine foreclosures and loan restructurings.
- This role also presents a unique opportunity to guide PropTech investment initiatives , influencing the future of real estate innovation. Finally, the selected candidate will mentor junior associates and serve as a crucial resource on intricate REIT governance, securities, and disclosure matters.
Qualifications :
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admission in good standing to the District of Columbia and Massachusetts Bars.
- A minimum of five (5) years of substantial transactional experience in real estate law
- Demonstrated experience with multi-billion-dollar joint ventures, large-scale mixed-use developments, and sophisticated REIT transactions.
Preferred Skills :
- Tenure as in-house counsel at a public REIT would be advantageous.
- Experience within a top-tier law firm (AmLaw 50).
- Exceptional client development capabilities and a well-established reputation within the real estate industry,
- Ideally recognized by prominent legal ranking publications, however alumni-status does not play a heavy preference for this role.
- Active engagement and leadership within professional legal organizations, real estate associations and other D.C. based networks.
