**Exciting Opportunity at MSK:** Join our team as a Medical Assistant and be a key member of the patient care team in the outpatient oncology setting! Work closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
**Role overview:**
+ Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and safety, while helping to maintain par levels of medical supplies
+ Complete rooming functions, reviewing allergies, medical records, and medication lists as required
+ Obtain vital signs, perform point-of-care tests, obtain blood specimens via venipuncture, and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) according to established policies
+ Prepare patients for procedures, assemble appropriate supplies and equipment, and assist as directed by clinician
**Key Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and eligibility for relevant specialized certifications.
+ (Preferred) National Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or registration by a recognized credentialing body such as:
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants
+ Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists
+ Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through National Healthcare Association
+ National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing
+ Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
+ Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
+ Basic proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email systems.
+ Previous experience in a medical assistant role within an outpatient setting is preferred.
+ Familiarity with OSHA standards and multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting is advantageous.
**Core Skills:**
+ **Clinical Skills:** Proficient in taking vital signs, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), venipuncture, assisting with physical exams and procedures, and managing patient specimens. Ability to respond to medical emergencies and handle point-of-care tests according to established protocols.
+ **Administrative Efficiency:** Competent in tracking patient flow, documenting patient interactions, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
+ **Safety and Infection Control:** Adhere to infection control and safety procedures, maintain cleanliness in patient care environments, and handle personal protective equipment and hygiene products effectively
+ **Technical Proficiency:** Basic computer skills, including proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred), and the ability to handle electronic documentation and communication tools

Summary:

- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program within 1 year.
- Certified in phlebotomy by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or an alternate approved certification within 1 year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- 3 years related experience.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
