You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
* You will answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
* You will screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
* You will use our Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
* You will help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company approved procedures.
* You will be there for our donors, which includes working a variety of shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift
* Will work evenings, weekends, and holidays
* Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees
* Ability to lift to 5 lbs., and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs. and rarely 50 lbs.
* Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance
* Because of potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1), 90% of work tasks require prolonged glove wear
* 1 or more years minimum experience working in a customer or patient facing role is helpful

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.
**Essential Job Functions**
- Performs specimen collection procedures
- Processes and sends out specimen and body fluids
- Enters orders
- Performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting of samples
- Generates reports
- Registers patients
- Provides basic customer service
- Maintains inventory levels and stocks supplies
- When staffed in Microbiology department, culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation. Performs the MST (Micro Setup Time) as needed.
- Phlebotomist duties may be needed.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist Trainer, under the direction of the Training Manager, assists with providing successful phlebotomy training services to the phlebotomy team. These functions include but are not limited to providing training on new processes and procedures, assisting in the development of training initiatives and materials, providing re-training in areas with high quality issues, and assisting with in-services and onboarding of strategic accounts. The person in this position maintains a safe and professional environment for patients, clients, and employees and provides administrative and training support to the phlebotomy department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate phlebotomy needs, current practices, and training development.
- Provide implementation of SOPs and communication of information in accordance with company guidelines.
- With direction and guidance from the Training Manager, act as mentor and resource for employees.
- Provide effective on-boarding services for strategic accounts, and ensure clients and phlebotomists are well trained on test ordering processes and office protocols.
- Provide training, retraining and assist with the overall quality improvement within the phlebotomy department.
- Assist with work environment transitions, and familiarity with department protocols, practices and procedures.
- Maintain training schedules.
- Assist with the development of training presentations and programs.
- Communicate appropriately with clients, patients, coworkers and the general public.
- Document and resolve issues and escalate to appropriate manager for resolution.
- Communicate all unresolved problems immediately to the Training Manager.
- Perform basic clerical duties, i.e. filing, faxing, preparing mail, electronic data entry, etc.
- Submit accurate expense forms, time and travel logs as directed by management; and on time.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Phlebotomy Certification is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 - 5 years of prior phlebotomy experience required.
- 1 - 2 years of prior phlebotomy training experience preferred.
- Must be able to travel and stay at offsite locations in different states for periods of a week or more at a time, as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Must pass motor vehicle record (MVR) check (driving history for last 3 years will be reviewed).
- Must comply with PathGroup's transportation policy guidelines.

JOB SUMMARY:
Phlebotomy Apprentice trains to perform daily phlebotomy activities of the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) accurately and on time. The person in this position will learn how to interact with the client, patients, and other PathGroup personnel in a professional and courteous manner and performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates commitment to learning the proper collection techniques, safety, and all other duties encompassed within the position.
- Willing to perform venipunctures on coworkers and volunteer to have venipunctures performed on them.
- Greets customers in-person or via phone appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
- Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
- Collects specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Reduces patient anxiety by providing a calm environment for patients before, during and after the collection process.
- Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies. Disposes of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Completes requisitions accurately.
- Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer. Requires attention to detail to maintain high level of accuracy. Communicate with clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify test(s) ordered, obtain accurate billing information, i.e., diagnosis codes, UPIN information, etc.
- Research test/client information utilizing lab computer system.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Demonstrates proficiency of proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens.
- Maintains required records and documentation.
- Maintains daily records and all appropriate PSC/IOP Phlebotomy logs.
- Performs basic clerical duties, i.e., filing, faxing, and preparing mail. The person in this position is required to perform electronic data entry.
- Approves time in attendance software by noon on the Monday following the end of the pay period. Submits accurate expense and travel logs Monday for the week prior or as directed by management.
- Demonstrates organizational commitment.
- Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.
- Utilizes time appropriately. Capable of maintaining fluctuating patient flow.
- Displays courteous and professional behavior to clients, patients, and co-workers. Communicates with co-workers and clients in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment.
- Performs duties in independent manner.
- Communicates pertinent information/issues to supervisor, manager, or group leader for resolution.
- Contributes to a positive work climate and to the team effort of the department and company.
- Ensures facilities are neat, clean and in good repair, takes appropriate action to advise Group Leader or Supervisor of required repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts, report shortages and problems to group leader or supervisor as they occur.
- Utilizes proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure patient and personal safety. Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
