Production Assistant | $50-55k

Who will work well with us: The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate and interested in the arts/larger creative arena or is eager to learn. Previous experience and a background within the commercial art world is required. What you'll do: Workshop creative solutions for fabricating artworks and exhibition materials with the production team as a whole. Research and source materials, vendors, and processes for gallery artists. Provide support with all stages of planning, budgeting, and implementation of select exhibitions at David Zwirner. Update and manage various departmental organizational calendars, spreadsheets as projects come in. Generate technical 2D & 3D drawings to illustrate installation processes for artworks and clarify fabrication specifications for vendors. Designs client-friendly informational documents, installation manuals and/or maintenance instructions for select artworks, as well as exhibition maps, floorplans and various other visual tools to assist sales, as needed. Organize, edit and upload condition files when needed. Assemble physical and digital exhibition models, maquettes and mock-ups. Interpret and manipulate architectural, technical drawings, etc. Assist in the production and preparation of vinyl and exhibition signage for gallery exhibitions, as needed. Collect and organize information for editioned artworks and draft NYACAL forms. Inventory and support ordering of departmental supplies, as ended.

What we would like you to have: The ideal candidate should be self-driven and curious with a passion for art and creative problem-solving. Bachelors or Masters in Fine Art, Visual Studies, Architecture or Design preferred. Proficiency with: Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator and Indesign required. Working knowledge of Sketchup, Rhino or CAD programs preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary.

Specific Responsibilities Would Include

The Production Assistant contributes to the seasonal production process by assisting with the placement, execution and follow-up of manufacturing orders and by ensuring the timely delivery of quality, profitable goods.

Strategy & Innovation
  • Research and coordinate raw materials and trims for approval
Operations and Results
  • Partner with Design and Merchandising to ensure timely execution of product development calendar
  • Enter and maintain updates for each style in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system or shared drives; perform daily tracking of goods on order, in progress (WIP) and in-transit to ensure timely delivery according to development calendar; create and distribute production status report; follow-up with vendors, factories and Design/Merchandising as needed
  • Partner with merchandisers to confirm accuracy of size breaks, tickets, and item information in PLM system; enter data into approved vendor matrix, with costing and production capacity portfolio
  • Create, revise, input and maintain production orders and monitor transmission to factories; file and maintain records of purchase orders (POs); receive and track all pre-production samples and stock deliveries
  • Maintain fabric/trim library, in partnership with Design; maintain product development logs, trim inventory/liability inventory, and production archives library; track non-compliance/claims chargebacks with vendors, where appropriate
  • Observe and assist with fit process; keep detailed notes; adhere to and enforce production standards
  • Provide general administrative support to the team as needed

You'll provide operational support across video and photo productions, handling the key details that bring creative ideas to life. This role supports both artist-facing and executive-facing needs, requiring strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. You'll play a key part in helping the Creative Team execute innovative, high-quality work that pushes boundaries and delivers impact.Here you'll get to:Assist on commissioned shoots, managing logistics and ensuring creative is executed safely, efficiently, and within budget.Coordinate artist and executive travel, itineraries, and related expenses.Coordinate production insurance and vendor setup for shoots.Track budgets, submit invoices, adjust purchase orders, and support finance-related production tasks.Organize production details including budgets, treatments, shoot dates, artist costs, and deliverablesSupport post-production by tracking review links, download requests, and final asset delivery.Contribute to the creative process, helping develop the visual language that defines our artists.Discover, maintain, and collaborate with photographers, stylists, designers, and other creative talent.Participate in team meetings, brainstorms, and artist sessions, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, artist-focused environment.About you:You thrive in fast-paced, creative environments and enjoy being part of the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps things moving.You're highly organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to multitask and prioritize, while managing multiple deadlines.You have strong communication and collaboration skills, expressing your ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.You're excited by music, creativity, and supporting talent at the highest level.You're proactive, adaptable, and understand that every task - big or small - contributes to the team's success.You are an excellent listener, self-starter, and able to anticipate needs while solving problems quickly.We'd love it if you also had:A working knowledge of production and post-production workflows, formats, and best practices.Experience managing vendor communications, travel coordination, and budgeting.The ability to anticipate needs, solve problems quickly, and support across a variety of project types.A desire to grow and expand within a creative team that values initiative and trust.About us: As the home to 10K Projects, Asylum, Atlantic Music Group, East West, FFRR, Fueled by Ramen, Nonesuch, Parlophone, Rhino, Roadrunner, Sire, Warner Records, Warner Classics, and several other of the world's premier recording labels, Warner Music Group champions emerging artists and global superstars alike.
