Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center, Waukesha, is a 24/7 emergency and specialty animal hospital. WVRC offers a warm, friendly atmosphere where our main goal is to provide compassionate care to our patients and clients as well as offering outstanding customer service. The Veterinary Technician Assistant provides key support to the technician and veterinarian staff. Must be friendly, professional and courteous, and capable of handling several tasks at once with frequent interruptions. Must be able to take direction from multiple staff members while adhering to training standards.
Schedule and Compensation:This is a full-time position. The schedule is four 10 hour shifts per week, 4 holidays per year will be required, NO weekends. Hourly pay starts at $15 and may be higher depending on experience.
Essential Functions:Multi-tasking and attention to detail skills are required. Must have the ability to stand for much of the work period and enough stamina to work past the regularly scheduled shifts, if needed.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Routinely check department voicemail.
- Answer simple client questions.
- Participate in planned procedures throughout the day by setting up and cleaning procedure rooms.
- Organize the next day's appointments to include reading medical records to acquire proper information.
- Accurately enter notes into medical records.
- Restraining patients for exams, treatments or procedures.
- Properly remove patients from IV fluids and transport to other areas of hospital as needed.
- Stocking the treatment areas.
- Cleaning kennels, floors, etc.
- Laundry.
- Taking patients outside.
- Feeding patients.
- Able to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Positive outlook, a passion for providing the highest quality in patient care and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
- Prior veterinary experience preferred.
- Must have worked or volunteered to work with dogs and cats at a clinic, Humane Society, Kennel or similar.

- Must have good telephone etiquette.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.

Pay Range: $18.40 - $23.51 Hourly

Benefits eligibility is based on employment status. Full-time (FT) Associates are eligible for all benefit programs (Student Debt Program available for FT DVMs only); Part-time Associates are eligible for those benefits with an asterisk (*).
