We are currently seeking a Welding Technician at our Bakers facility in Monroe, NC. As a welding technician you will perform welding procedures including production part construction, cleaning, drying and inspection to meet customer specification and quality requirements. You will weld production parts by TIG or ARC, and crimp, cut and butter weld parts as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Weld production parts, by TIG or ARC, to meet quality standard(s) ensuring that parts will maintain weld integrity through outgassing and HIP. Perform complex or routine tasks related to welding practices.
• Complete welding projects throughout the facility as required by plant engineering or maintenance.
• Crimp, cut and butter weld parts as required.
• Leak check and weld repair parts as required. Prep and clean welds as required to ensure quality weld.
• Determine necessary machines and/or equipment to be used in successfully completing welding assignments. Interpret blueprints, drawings or weld procedures.
• Visually inspect and properly document all welding activity as required by process standards.
• Interpret previous data in order to establish successful weld parameters for new designs and shapes. Suggest process improvements or revisions.
• Maintain welding equipment in proper working order and keep records of maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain inventories of all welding supplies and gasses.

Job Description:

The Welding Inspector must ensure proper welding and radiographic procedures are qualified and utilized, radiographers are certified, welders are qualified, sound welds are produced, and proper documentation is maintained.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

•Be familiar with the approved construction drawings and Company specifications.

•Understanding the Contract document as it relates to his or her duties on the project

•Completing and submitting applicable inspection reports that accurately describe the work performed on the project

•Assure any design changes or material substitutions are discussed with the Chief Inspection and proper Company approval is obtained.

•Verify all materials used in the installation are in compliance with Company requirements.

•Assure a welding procedure is established

•Assure the correct WPS being utilized is reviewed prior to the start of welding

•Assure that each welder is qualified for the work he is performing

•Observe the x-ray procedure (including developing and handling) being used to assure it is appropriate for the applications and this procedure is producing acceptable radiographs.

•Assure the Radiographer's certifications are current and in accordance with SNC-TC-1A.

•Continuously observe the welding technique and radiographic procedure to assure proper procedures are being followed.

•Coordinate the radiographic crew?s activities with those of the contractor.

•Monitor the quality of the welds being made to assure sound welds are being made at all joints.

•Assure the repairs made to correct defects in a pipe weld sufficiently corrected the defect and the weld satisfies the requirements as outlined by the appropriate codes and Company specifications.

•Assure proper documentation is maintained by the radiographic crew including the disposition of each reject.
