The Vermont Judiciary is recruiting a permanent Judicial Assistant provides specialized customer support, clerical and data entry work involving one or more docket areas within a court's jurisdiction. Description
- Specialized clerical and administrative work with heavy data entry and case processing.
- Performs case-flow functions across the full case-cycle including docket entry, entering new electronic and paper filings, sending notice, reviewing case documents for accuracy/completeness, preparing orders & motions, scheduling events on court calendar.
- Responsible for operating various tools to support both in-person and remote virtual court hearings.
- Perform operator function during court hearings by providing high-speed docket entry and real-time processing in medium and high-volume settings such as the criminal docket.
- Employ attention to detail and methodical approach to ensure standardized business practices are followed.
- Respond to customer inquiries to assist with filling-out forms, using court kiosks, preparing for court appearances, and providing case information.
- Maintain excellent customer interaction by providing prompt information and assistance.
- Collect fines and fees according to established procedure; close, balance and reconcile tills.
- Maintain working knowledge and adherence to court rules and statutes.
Compensation
Starting salary is $22.07 per hour. This position will be eligible for longevity increases in accordance with the State step pay plan and annual cost of living increases as enacted by the Vermont State Legislature.

Overview
Signature of the State Court Administrator approval available on file in the Human Resources Division.
Responsibilities- Serves as Legal Counsel to the Colorado Judicial Department on various legal matters.
- Provides executive direction to the legal counsel unit.
- Serves as in-house counsel for judges, district administrators, chief probation officers and other Judicial Department personnel. Provides technical legal advice to managers, supervisors and other Judicial Department personnel in order to avoid or minimize legal liability for the Colorado Judicial Department.
- Conducts legal research. Analyzes and interprets laws, rules, court rulings, and regulations for clients.
- Researches unique legal issues impacting the Judicial Department by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and rules.
- Advises clients on legal aspects of administrative and operational issues.
- Prepares and provides training on legal issues for Judicial Department personnel.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of subordinate legal unit personnel.
- May provide guidance on ethical issues to judicial officers.
- Participates in the overall management of the Judicial Department with the Senior Staff of the State Court Administrator’s Office.
- Attends meetings and trainings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Plans and coordinates activities for a unit. Duties may include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance appraisals, and provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes.
- Graduation from an accredited law school; possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Colorado; eligibility to practice law before the courts of the State of Colorado and eight years of experience practicing as an attorney in the field of law. Colorado Judicial Department experience is preferred.
