- Establishes and monitors processes to ensure inventory management, order fulfillment, demand planning, and product life-cycle management result in the greatest cost controls and asset management.
- Leverages technical competencies and knowledge to partner with Maintenance & Engineering and Flight Operations to purchase/contract airline specific equipment such as engines, flight simulators, and navigation equipment.
- Develops a supply chain approach specific to each negotiation, ideally with a unique end-state to provide Alaska with a vendor-specific competitive advantage that achieves reduced unit costs or economies of scale while cultivating long-term harmonious vendor relationships.
- Provides hands-on project management, including assistance with business analysis, capacity planning, training, and understanding of organizational dynamics to ensure supply chain results directly support business strategy.

Direct interaction with Business Development and Global Account Management team members in assisting with customer meetings, escalations, and provide support in the sales cycle.
The experience we're looking to add to our team,

Position overview:
We are seeking a Director, Supply Chain Management with extensive experience in directing a broad range of Supply Chain Management functions to include government funded procurement, shipping and receiving, and property control.
Reporting to the SLAC Director of Business Services, the Director, Supply Chain Management will be responsible for delivering timely supply chain services while ensuring compliance with procurement, shipping/receiving, and property control requirements as specified in the Department of Energy (DOE) Prime Contract for SLAC National Laboratory; Stanford and SLAC policies and procedures and applicable FAR and DOE requirements.
Supply Chain management at SLAC is r esponsible for the timely procurement and contract management of complex SLAC supply, service, and construction requirements valued at nearly $500 million in annual spend. In addition, the Supply Chain Director serves as an advisor to senior SLAC managers, staff, and stakeholders on acquisitions in support of SLAC high dollar, complex projects.
SLAC is operated by Stanford University for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science and is one of 17 DOE national laboratories the most comprehensive research system of its kind in the world - providing strategic scientific and technological capabilities and expertise that cannot be found elsewhere. A major part of the Office of Science mission is supporting the development, construction, and operation of unique, open-access scientific user facilities. The laboratory is home to three Office of Science user facilities: the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) and the Facility for Advanced Accelerator Experimental Tests (FACET-II).
SLAC sits on 426 acres of Stanford land, located two miles from the main university campus. The lab's ties with Stanford have grown over the years to include several joint institutes and facilities and many collaborative research efforts. Stanford has made numerous investments in the laboratory and provides key services that make its operations more efficient. SLAC also plays a key role for Stanford, which benefits from the lab's deep expertise in key areas and its ability to develop and run large-scale research facilities. Your specific responsibilities would include:
Lead and manage the Supply Chain Management organization consisting of Procurement, Shipping/Receiving, and Property Control.
Develop goals, budgets and objectives that support both long and short-term Lab objectives while meeting DOE Performance Evaluation Management Plan goals.
Lead initiatives to simplify procurement for researchers, strategically consolidate spend, and leverage vendors. Implement streamlined systems and business practices that are cost-effective, compliant with requirements, and increase the efficiency of the Procurement function.
Manage, lead and inspire the supply chain management team through mentoring, goal setting and monitoring, clear and regular feedback, career development and coaching.
Develop capabilities of procurement staff and ensure strong leadership of individual teams within the organization.
Develop programs to provide clients with strategic options around the entire source to settle lifecycle and employ best commercial practices and business tools.
Build effective relationships internally and externally with DOE and SLAC stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with university policies and government regulations; interact with government and internal and external auditors; evaluate and implement audit recommendations. Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance.
Maintain a proactive interface with Deputy Laboratory Directors, Associate Lab Directors, Office of General Counsel, and DOE Site Office Staff on a variety of supply chain initiatives and practices.
Ensure programs meet socio-economic goals and reporting as defined by the DOE.
Represent SLAC in a variety of activities and committees involving DOE and other Labs working to address M&O supply chain management issues.
Serve as the supply chain management point of contact for the Stanford Board of Oversight committee.
Collaborate with the Stanford University Procurement Office on issues of mutual benefit; collaborate with peer procurement directors throughout the DOE Laboratory complex; respond to DOE Supply Chain information requests.

To be successful in this position you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of management experience in procurement leadership/spend management for a large, diverse, and decentralized organization or combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience running a government-funded procurement organization. Experience as a federal contracting officer or experience as a federal contractor would be strong plusses.
In-depth knowledge and experience with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Department of Energy Acquisition Regulations (DEAR).
Track record of successfully developing and leading high-performing supply chain management organizations.
Ability to articulate a clear vision for the organization and execute on a strategy to attain the vision.
Ability to lead change in a decentralized environment and to work through influence and persuasion.
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders and customers.
Ability to interpret, implement and balance complex government procurement requirements while meeting unique research and scientific mission requirements.

In addition, preferred requirements include:
Advanced degree such as an MBA highly desired.
Experience/familiarity with Shipping and Receiving and government Property Control Requirements desired.
Formal Contracts/Procurement/Government contracts training.
Experience with a PeopleSoft ERP system.
Knowledge of local California Bay Area market contractors, trades and crafts.
Certifications and Licenses:
Active or Former Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), NCMA; CPCM; APDP) or equivalent designation highly desirable.
