Description We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our client's Team located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is Onsite and centered around driving month-end close and supervising the AP and AR Team and responsible for various aspects of financial reporting and accounting. *** This role is Onsite in Albuquerque and will be in line to succeed the Controller Responsibilities: - Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, including variance analysis and account reconciliations - Supervise and mentor accounting & AP/AR staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment - Manage and oversee bank reconciliations, billing, accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), fixed assets and depreciation, and mortgage payments - Maintain detail oriented and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and/or reviewing detail oriented publications - Generate reconciliations and detailed reporting on multi-tiered entities involving complex account activities - Prepare and assist with cash flow projections, forecasts, and annual budgets - Prepare and assist with reports for loan compliance items, including quarterly and annual reporting, escrow and reserve reviews, and other related tasks - File NM Gross Receipts tax returns timely and oversee annual Form 1099 reporting - Prepare year-end tax packages for review and submission to tax return preparers. Responsibilities: - Prepare and analyze special financial reports, including cash flow, vendor activity, receivables, and bank fees, as requested by the Controller. - Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support the Controller in annual budget planning. - Collaborate with the IT team to maintain and enhance accounting systems for optimal functionality. - Supervise and train accounting personnel responsible for detailed entries and internal financial reporting both locally and at branch offices. - Support the annual review process conducted by external auditors and provide necessary documentation. - Oversee multi-state payroll processing, including calculating wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions, while ensuring compliance with tax withholding requirements. - Manage vacation and sick leave accruals and prepare payroll billings for branch offices. - Generate and review payroll reports using ADP Workforce Now and related systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. - Address employee inquiries related to payroll and prepare semi-monthly reports for employee contribution submissions Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management. - Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation. - Experience with full-cycle payroll, including multi-state payroll processing and compliance. - Strong knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Oracle NetSuite systems. - Demonstrated ability to conduct financial reporting and support audits. - Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations, including federal, state, and local requirements. - Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. - Ability to effectively train and supervise accounting staff.
