Job Summary: To work with teachers and other educational professionals in supporting student achievement and facilitating independence.

Qualifications: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required:
    • Possess an Associate's degree or higher
    • Have completed two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits)
    • Attain the PA Credential of Competency Certification within the first year of employment
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Proficiency in the use of technology
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must complete 20 hours of professional development that is aligned with the PA Competency Standards annually
  • Must have and maintain a valid state vehicle operator's license and a good driving record
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal recordcheck requirements

Duties & Responsibilities: (Abbreviated - Please review the attached job descriptions for more details on these specific opportunities)

Paraprofessional Level 1:
  • Attains and maintains current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Completes staff development on an annual basis as required by the district or state mandates
  • Provides individual and/or small group support to implement specific academic, behavioral, and/or physical accommodations as outlined by the Individualized Education Program
  • Provides assistance in the development and preparation of instructional materials and adaptive strategies while utilizing technology programs and computers
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records and information
  • Supports inclusion, socialization, and independence within the school setting/and or in the community
  • Provides transportation for small groups of students in district vehicles to community sites as directed
  • Collects and maintains data as required by the student plan for medical assistance logs, daily communication logs, and anecdotal records
  • Utilization of technology for data collection, reporting, emailing and assisting students in computer software applications as needed
  • Print, file, scan and record student progress reports, charts, certificates, or materials for interventions
  • Consults with teachers to implement goals and monitor progress
  • Assists students with make-up sessions as needed

Paraprofessional Level 2 (including all duties and responsibilities of Level 1, and the following):
  • May provide direct student assistance with monitoring of medical condition, physical needs, personal care, feeding,and/or toileting
  • Exposure to body fluids
  • Provides intensive program level support, (academic, behavioral, and physical), to students in specialized classes: Autistic Support, Bridges, Life Skills, MDS, SAILS and Transition Program

Paraprofessional Level 3/Job Coach (including all duties and responsibilities of Levels 1 and 2, and the following):
  • Support students independently in community settings for community-based instruction and vocational programming
  • Provides intensive behavioral, academic, functional and physical support to students both in the classroom and community settings
  • The Job Coach implements transition services to neuro divergent students, (16-21), through community-based activities to develop independent living skills, employability skills, job skills, employment opportunities as well as other community participation experiences
  • Provides support, shadowing and mentoring opportunities to Level I and Level II, 1:1 para-professionals whom assist in providing transitional vocational training to their immediate student as directed by Transition Supervisor
  • Aggregating and summarizing vocational data collected by both the individual coach and other paraprofessionals throughout the district to create a comprehensive data review for each marking period on individualized progress
  • Provides specific job coaching services on employability skills, monitors and evaluates students at volunteer and paid employment locations within the community
  • Establishes contact with community business leaders to develop opportunities for students to participate in job skills training, employability skills training as well as paid employment, internship, and job shadowing opportunities
  • Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to present to the team data collected on student's community training progress
  • Assist in the development of program curriculum schedules both in an in-person and virtual capacity that are meaningful, promote independence and develop skills for competitive integrated employment
  • Participates in ongoing training specific to job coaching, job development, transition services and bi-weekly training/professional collaboration meetings.

What does a Reading Coach do?

When and where would I work?

• Assist in the content delivery and promotion of various public health programs including alcohol & other drugs, mental health & stress management, sexual health & healthy relationships, nutrition & body image, problem gambling awareness, and overall well-being related topics to constituents both on and off campus.
• Research, create, and copywrite well-being related content for digital and print media.
• Create educational content, programs, and support aligning with the program indicators of discover, explore, and live.
• Contribute innovative ideas and methods to introduce well-being to the campus community.
• Serve as an active team member on one or more well-being related events and programs (i.e. Fresh Check Day, #YouMatterECU Pop Up, Safe Spring Break, Breakfast On the Go, Pledge Purple, Pleasure Principle, American Heart Walk, etc).
• Support the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) by assisting in creating a positive and supportive environment for students in recovery from alcohol, drugs, and other behavioral addictions.
• Understand and utilize any software applications and programs necessary in accordance with protocols and operations.
• Solicit and incorporate feedback from a variety of sources (e.g., participants, peers, supervisors, self) to enhance professionalism and future experiences.
• Enhance competency by using credible resources, attending in-services, and focusing on professional development.
• Use appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication techniques when interacting with or answering questions from members and guests.
• Adapt and accommodate a large spectrum of individual personality styles and differences in backgrounds when building rapport and providing assistance to members and guests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Well-Being Coach duties includes:
• Establish rapport with clients using effective communication strategies to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
• Help clients take responsibility for personal health by identifying strengths, challenges, and available resources to make healthful lifestyle choices.
• Facilitate client-directed behavior change using evidence-based coaching strategies to promote healthful lifestyle choices.
• Use available health, medical, wellness, and lifestyle information by employing appropriate assessment tools and standards to stratify risk, identify the need for medical clearance and referrals, establish baselines and facilitate plan development.
• Design individualized plans based on interviews, screenings, assessment data, and goals to progress clients toward healthful lifestyle management.
• Implement individualized plans using evidence-based coaching practices to progress clients toward healthful lifestyle and behavior change.
• Evaluate plan effectiveness in collaboration with clients to monitor outcomes and support progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with clients to adjust plans based on ongoing evaluations to promote adherence, personal responsibility, and success.
• Adhere to legal requirements, the Code of Ethics, and scope-of-practice guidelines to protect clients, maintain professional standards, and manage risk.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records using applicable standards to ensure quality care and manage risk.
• Respond to emergencies and high-risk situations following established protocols to ensure safety and reduce liability.
• Maintain professional competence by staying current on research, technology, and industry standards to build proficiency as a health coach and optimize client outcomes.
• Create a welcoming environment by developing awareness of, and demonstrating sensitivity to, various populations.
• Solicit and incorporate feedback from a variety of sources (e.g., participants, peers, supervisors, self) to enhance professionalism and future experiences.

• Must be a current ECU student in good academic standing.
• Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of hire.
• NASPA Certified Peer Educator training within 60 days of hire.
• Completion of HLTH 1000 or other health related courses.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office365.
• Ability to work independently and as a team for a minimum of 5-12 hours per week.
• Flexible work availability required included but not limited to the early morning, nights, weekends, holidays, and ECU sanctioned breaks.

Well-Being Coaches:

Position Overview
The Athletic Coach is responsible for leading a team of student athletes, developing and implementing training programs, and promoting a culture of excellence within the athletic department. This individual will work closely with the Director of Athletics to achieve program goals, maintain a safe and supportive environment for student-athletes, and adhere to school policies and regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Instruction and Leadership : Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in their designated sport(s).
  • Program Development : Develop and implement comprehensive training programs and practice schedules to enhance team performance and athlete development, as well as the creation and execution of game and meet strategies.
  • Game Strategy : Create and execute game/meet strategy and implement fundamentals to achieve competitive success.
  • Off-Season Workouts : Coordinate and design off-season workouts and strength training sessions for the entire program (when age/sport appropriate).
    Scheduling and Logistics: Work with the Director of Athletics to build a competitive and balanced schedule, ensuring timely delivery of all necessary documents and approvals.
  • Staff Management : Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to hire, evaluate, and support additional coaching staff members for all program teams.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms, with updated inventories.
  • Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Health and Safety : Ensure proper medical forms and current records are obtained and maintained.
  • Student Supervision : Supervise students at home and away games, ensuring appropriate behavior and adherence to school policies.
  • Reporting and Communication :
    • Finalize roster reports and submit attendance records to the Director of Athletics for mandated reporting; report game/meet results, ejections, and disqualifications to the Director of Athletics; and communicate regularly with families of student-athletes.
    • Submit completed injury reports to the Director of Athletics, School Leader, and School Nurse.
    • Report game/meet results, as well as any ejections and disqualifications, to the Director of Athletics.
  • Family Communication : Communicate and collaborate with the families of student-athletes regarding progress and expectations.
  • Problem Reporting : Report any problems or situations to the Director of Athletics promptly.
  • Policy Enforcement : Enforce all school policies during both home and away events.
  • Transportation : Ensure and share transportation for athletes to away games/meets or off-site practices using provided small and large buses.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related is preferred.
  • 2 years experience as an Educator or Athletic Coach at various levels of teaching and coaching preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher in the respective sport(s).
  • Possession of a valid NYSPHSAA coaching certification, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification through required training upon hire.
  • Knowledge of the sport, training techniques, and player development.
  • Experience working directly with students, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment.
  • Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
  • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
  • If currently employed at KIPP Capital Region Schools, the applicant must be in good standing.
