Job Summary
Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions
Adhere to approved course syllabus.
Provide students with the course syllabus that informs them of course requirements including specific objectives, means of attaining those objectives and methods of evaluation by the end of the first week of classes.
Use teaching methods which are appropriate to reach students of varying educational experiential backgrounds and learning styles. Allow the student to continually assess his/her own progress. Allow reasonable opportunity for each student to master the objectives of the course.
Submit syllabi and/or addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class. Post and maintain office hours as per institutional guidelines. Make provisions for students to evaluate instruction and arrange for submission of evaluation to the designated office.
Participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars and activities to enhance professional development; accept the responsibility for professional awareness and growth. Acknowledge and support the community college's mission to serve the community.
Perform all other duties appropriate to this position as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree in Court Reporting and three (3) years of work experience exclusive of teaching.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
2. Experience teaching in the discipline.
3. Experience/ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
4. Experience/ability to teach at the community college level.
Special Conditions:
1. The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part-time faculty. Faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the District. EPCC accepts application materials year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Part-time faculty hiring is based on college need. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2025 to June 2026. After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.

Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide customer assistance to the public in person, by mail, email, and telephone; receive and respond to general questions by providing information regarding violation plea options, citation, and collection processes, including payment options and obtaining license clearances; gather relevant information and coordinate with a supervisor or lead worker for resolution of traffic cases; communicate basic case information to external law enforcement and collection agencies.
- Maintain workflow of cases using the court case management program; review and compare citations to the court docket verifying all necessary information is accurate and correct; prepare and proofread the arraignment docket and any specialty dockets such as show cause hearings; refer inaccurate information to a supervisor; update and close a traffic or violation case if an individual enters a plea and pays the fine; send conviction abstracts to Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as assigned; print and provide motions to the Justice of the Peace filed by the public as well as law enforcement motions to dismiss or amend a citation.
- Decide traffic and violation cases at the court window, online, by mail, fax, or telephone according to the violations' bureau order; access driving records as allowed by Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) guidelines to reduce a fine under the violations' bureau order; assist the public with payment options; verify documents including proof of vehicle insurance and registration; inspect vehicles to confirm necessary corrective action complies with court findings.
- Open, distribute, and process mail; receipt for mail payments; review letters from the public addressed to the Justice of the Peace and create draft response letters for review and approval.
- Generate and review reports, including failure to appear in court and failure to comply with payment plan contract; send letters and notices for failure to appear and failure to comply; create and submit documents to the DMV requesting notification of suspension or license clearance; monitor cases for eligibility to reinstate driving privileges.
- Cashier, receipt, process and track fees, payments, and bonds collected for traffic or violation fines; set up payment plan contracts; complete internal records; balances transactions, receipts, and the cash drawer; submit cases to the collection agency; receive and review status updates from the collection agency.
- Perform routine violation trial tasks in traffic violations cases as assigned under the guidance of a lead or supervisor, such as preparing and proofreading the trial docket, entering and removing driving records in the electronic case file, scanning documents, and adding parties to the case, sending subpoenas, notifying parties of a trial date reset, and other limited duties; perform assigned LEDS related tasks.
- Perform routine duties in civil, small claims, and landlord-tenant cases as assigned under a lead or supervisor; enter and scan initial and primary information electronically and in person; ensure accuracy of civil dockets, including small claims and landlord-tenant cases by comparing the docket to court software files.
- Perform routine finance duties such as preparing the daily bank deposit and daily deposit summary, preparing check disbursements for civil cases, entering data on the civil trust spreadsheet for deposit and disbursement tracking, reconciling payments received from collections, preparing the accounts payable voucher for monthly billing statements, processing refunds, and other occasional, limited finance tasks as assigned under the guidance of a lead or supervisor.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness: Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Position Highlights
The Polk County Circuit Court in Dallas, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Court Clerk (Court Operations Specialist).
In this role.
You will provide courtroom support by taking minutes, preparing judgments and orders, entering data of court events and documents, operating the court's electronic recorder, and ensuring accurate record of the court proceedings are being created and preserved in accordance with the applicable law, rules, and established business process and guidelines.
When not in the courtroom, you will schedule meetings or maintain court calendars for judges, prepare dockets for court sessions, assemble materials and notify parties, arrange prisoner transport, and coordinate court appearances for litigants or court interpreters. You will also coordinate case activities and information with judges, court administration, other operations staff, attorneys, and litigants.
As a point of contact for the court, you will assist customers at the counter, on the phone or through email and mail; organize and determine priorities; route parties and materials as appropriate; accept and receipt payments of cost, fees, fines, bail and other monies and balance cash drawer at the end of each day. Lastly, you will obtain and make recommendations after review of financial information for court appointed attorney eligibility.

A Court Clerk is responsible for acquiring, preparing, completing, executing and distributing all Court files/documents for each matter heard by the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas. A Court Clerk must be proficient in all divisionsCivil, Criminal, Family, Juvenile and Orphans Court. A Court Clerk must act as Court Liaison with all departments, and keep detailed minutes of all court proceedings. This position requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion and is of substantial importance to the operation of the Court. The nature of the work in this function is confidential. A Court Clerk must work closely with other Court staff, and most particularly with Chambers Staff as to all courtroom proceedings. Review Court calendar on a daily basis. Advise Chambers Staff of any matters/changes that may have impact on the courtroom schedule. The Court Clerk has the direct responsibility for the efficiency of his/her courtroom. The Court Clerk is responsible for any other duties specific to their assigned courtroom/Judge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- General duties: Review with the Judge and Crier the daily schedule and communicate with various departments. Act as a liaison between Attorneys, Pro-Se Parties, Plaintiff, Defendants, Petitioners/Respondents and the Court. In the absence of the Crier, the Clerk swears in witnesses and assists the Court in making arrangements for sequestered Jurors. Has daily contact with Sheriff's Department to ensure security in the courtroom. Supervises all courtroom personnel. Must be able to access all Court related documents and navigate all court-related programs. Communicate with Judge and discuss any inquiries he/she may have.
- Obtains files for all scheduled cases: Obtains, prepares and places files in chronological order. Review each file for any outstanding bench warrants, and/or petitions relating to court proceedings. Ensures that each file contains the relevant paperwork and proper Order attached. Print out the necessary Petitions/Motions and any additional information for those Judges who do not refer to court files.
- Assume responsibility for all forms being properly executed and filed: Must have knowledge of proper forms used for each court proceeding and assumes responsibility for acquiring and preparing of all forms, legal documents and correspondence necessary to enable court proceedings to flow efficiently. Must have knowledge to draft Orders; Processes all Court Orders, including e-filing, and correspondence to completion in criminal, civil, family and juvenile matters. Maintain knowledge and procedures in all divisions of the Court. Accurately annotate daily lists and Orders and distribute same to the appropriate departments.
- Court Liaison: Interpret and pass information to the Bench and court-related departments. Prepares and communicates the directives of the Court to Judicial Secretaries, Court Administration, Clerk of Courts, Adult Probation, Prothonotary, Court Interpreter, Domestic Relations, Sheriff's Department and other court-related departments.
- Record keeping: Keep accurate, efficient and legible minutes of trials, hearings, court procedures and Interpreter's time. Caption all participants such as attorneys, defendants/respondents, plaintiffs/petitioners, and juror's names. Keep time of commencement and adjournment of Court. Keep accurate Reporter Sheets on all matters heard.
- Jury Trials: Responsible for seating and swearing in Jury Panel. Distribute Jurors' Questionnaires to counsel, removing selected Jurors' Questionnaires and retaining them until the completion of the Jury Trial. Keep account of the collective and individual voir-dire. Assist Tipstaves in strikes for cause and pre-emptory strikes during Jury Selection. Validate and confirm Attorneys' trikes prior to presenting Petit Voir Sheet for Attorneys' signatures. Once jurors are selected, announce names, new juror numbers and assist in seating. Swear in Jury according to the law. Prepare sheet of selected jurors and distribute to all appropriate personnel. Render and record the Verdict as announced by the Foreperson under the direction of the court.
- Train new Court Clerks: Under the direction of the Supervisor, train newly employed clerks by giving them intensive direction and training in all divisions of the Court. Assist them in identifying all necessary paperwork and orders required in each file for the matters before the Court.
- Computer skills: Knowledge of all court-related computer programs; Prothy Viewer, Oracle, CPCMS and Main Forms Management. Knowledge of Microsoft, Internet Explorer and the Montgomery County Link which assists and enhances the function of the Court in criminal, civil, family and juvenile courts. Responsibility for accurately retrieving data from (CPCMS), Sherlock (Sheriff's Transportation List of defendants) and Court Clerks PFA. Must create personalized forms when Judge requests and then enter into Main Forms Management.
- Adaptability: The Court Clerk must be able to navigate from courtroom to courtroom and adapt themselves to each division of the Court. They must be mindful that each Judge has a different procedure and may have their own specialized forms. They must be able to be ready to transition to another assignment in the same day. The ability to work beyond established court hours as needed by the Court is an occasional requirement of the position.
