Job Summary

Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions

Adhere to approved course syllabus.

Provide students with the course syllabus that informs them of course requirements including specific objectives, means of attaining those objectives and methods of evaluation by the end of the first week of classes.

Use teaching methods which are appropriate to reach students of varying educational experiential backgrounds and learning styles. Allow the student to continually assess his/her own progress. Allow reasonable opportunity for each student to master the objectives of the course.

Submit syllabi and/or addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class. Post and maintain office hours as per institutional guidelines. Make provisions for students to evaluate instruction and arrange for submission of evaluation to the designated office.

Participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars and activities to enhance professional development; accept the responsibility for professional awareness and growth. Acknowledge and support the community college's mission to serve the community.

Perform all other duties appropriate to this position as assigned or directed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Associate's Degree in Court Reporting and three (3) years of work experience exclusive of teaching.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2. Experience teaching in the discipline.

3. Experience/ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.

4. Experience/ability to teach at the community college level.

Special Conditions:

1. The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part-time faculty. Faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the District. EPCC accepts application materials year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Part-time faculty hiring is based on college need. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2025 to June 2026. After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Decide traffic and violation cases at the court window, online, by mail, fax, or telephone according to the violations' bureau order; access driving records as allowed by Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) guidelines to reduce a fine under the violations' bureau order; assist the public with payment options; verify documents including proof of vehicle insurance and registration; inspect vehicles to confirm necessary corrective action complies with court findings.
  • Open, distribute, and process mail; receipt for mail payments; review letters from the public addressed to the Justice of the Peace and create draft response letters for review and approval.
  • Generate and review reports, including failure to appear in court and failure to comply with payment plan contract; send letters and notices for failure to appear and failure to comply; create and submit documents to the DMV requesting notification of suspension or license clearance; monitor cases for eligibility to reinstate driving privileges.
  • Cashier, receipt, process and track fees, payments, and bonds collected for traffic or violation fines; set up payment plan contracts; complete internal records; balances transactions, receipts, and the cash drawer; submit cases to the collection agency; receive and review status updates from the collection agency.
  • Perform routine violation trial tasks in traffic violations cases as assigned under the guidance of a lead or supervisor, such as preparing and proofreading the trial docket, entering and removing driving records in the electronic case file, scanning documents, and adding parties to the case, sending subpoenas, notifying parties of a trial date reset, and other limited duties; perform assigned LEDS related tasks.
  • Perform routine duties in civil, small claims, and landlord-tenant cases as assigned under a lead or supervisor; enter and scan initial and primary information electronically and in person; ensure accuracy of civil dockets, including small claims and landlord-tenant cases by comparing the docket to court software files.
  • Perform routine finance duties such as preparing the daily bank deposit and daily deposit summary, preparing check disbursements for civil cases, entering data on the civil trust spreadsheet for deposit and disbursement tracking, reconciling payments received from collections, preparing the accounts payable voucher for monthly billing statements, processing refunds, and other occasional, limited finance tasks as assigned under the guidance of a lead or supervisor.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Essential Functions

We are recruiting to fill a Court Clerk position to perform advanced work using an electronic filing system in a court within the Missouri State Court System. Work involves responsibility for court case processing which may require the application of independent judgment and the application of statutes, policies and regulations, with minimal supervision. Work requires frequent interaction with the public providing exceptional customer service. Work may also involve financial record keeping within an automated case management system; providing direct support for a circuit judge or associate circuit judge providing a full range of responsibilities within the division's jurisdiction.

Responsibilities - What you'll do

  • Performs case processing in receiving and initiating case files; performs technical duties such as reviewing judgments, preparing warrants, summonses, garnishments and executions, bond settings, and docket control
  • Reviews legal documents for necessary information required for filing; determines processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules requiring a detailed knowledge of applicable terminology, rules, and procedures
  • Performs accounting duties in receiving and disbursing monies, reconciles financial accounts, and prepares daily and monthly financial reports
  • Prepares a variety of documents related to court operations including court orders, court calendars, notices of hearings, court appearances or reports; coordinates the flow of documents necessary for court assignments; and properly queues electronically filed proceedings for processing

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning and one year of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties.

Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

EMPLOYEES MAY BE EXPOSED TO : Evidence and testimony that may be disturbing, such as photographs of violent scenes and victims and or sexually explicit material; evidence that may include syringes, drugs, weapons and blood; the public who may potentially be verbally or physically abusive, allergens, such as perfumes and dust; and unpleasant odors, such as unwashed clothing or chemicals offered into evidence.
