**Who We Are**
Stony Brook University (SBU) is a State University of New York (SUNY) flagship, an internationally renowned public research institution (R1), and a member of the Association of American Universities. The School of Social Welfare (SSW) is one of five Health Sciences Schools, located within a rich interdisciplinary environment. Numerous opportunities exist for collaborative research and interprofessional training across disciplines on campus and beyond. The Health Sciences Center is located on the Stony Brook Campus alongside Stony Brook University Hospital, the Cancer Center, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, and the Long Island State Veterans Home. In New York City, SBU is the anchor institution for the development of a world-leading climate solutions center on Governor's Island, the New York Climate Exchange. The SSW offers Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Master of Social Work (MSW), and PhD in Social Work degree programs, as well as multiple dual degree program options. The SSW has an extension education center in Manhattan, through which students can take MSW program coursework. The ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish in addition to English would be an asset in this position, but is not required.
