We have immediate opportunity for all levels of Wildlife Biological Monitors for the Central Valley Area. MUST have Wildlife Biological Monitoring Experience in California.
VARIOUS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Experience and knowledge of wildlife species in the Central Valley including small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations, knowledge of environmental regulatory process is a must.
- Experience with monitoring all ground distributing activity including mass grading, grubbing, weed abatement, trenching and any excavation on previously disturbed and undisturbed ground.
- Does or oversees field inspections of proposed project areas.
- Perform biological monitoring at construction sites to implement mitigation measures.
- Conduct field surveys.
- Record data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology.
- Ability to read maps.
- Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project.
- Use GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for field data collection.
- Ability to travel to be in the field for extended periods and able to work in rough terrain and challenging weather inclement.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
VARIOUS DEGREES & SKILLS
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or closely related field.
- Previous construction monitoring experience in similar California environments.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and project tracking software and databases.
- Experience with any of the following species: Tipton Kangaroo Rat, San Joaquin Antelope Squirrel, California Tiger Salamander, San Joaquin Kit Fox, Giant Garter Snake

Specific responsibilities include:
+ Maintaining the River Wildlife hiking/cross-country ski trails.
+ Assist with dog care (feeding, exercising, bathing) and kennel maintenance.
+ Responsible for releasing and dressing of birds in relation to scheduled hunts.
+ Assist the Manager-Land Management, River Wildlife as deemed necessary.
+ Operation of the trap and 5-stand sporting clays stations.
+ Coordination of canoe and kayak launches along with transportation to these launch sites.
+ Maintain the lawn areas around River Wildlife.
+ Responsible for proper handling of all firearms by guests and members while on any of the gun ranges or hunt fields along with proper handling and maintenance of personal firearm.
We have Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available. Shifts are primarily 8:00am - 4:00pm, weekdays & weekends.
**Skills/Requirements**
+ High school diploma is required.
+ Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record and meet the ongoing eligibility to operate a motor vehicle.
+ Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
+ Experienced hunter/fisher/wildlife expertise preferred.

WSP is seeking a Vice President, Wildlife Biologist who is responsible for managing and developing opportunities. This candidate will work with WSP's very successful Biological Resources technical staff and expanding our firm's visibility with key business sectors and client organizations in the environmental services marketplace. This role will be based out of our Branch Office in San Diego, CA. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of wildlife biology and natural resources permitting skills to manage a successful operation, including business development, and demonstrated relationship-building abilities. The candidate should have existing connections with Southern California clients, specifically in the San Diego Region.
Your Impact
+ Provide leadership in technical, business development, financial and administrative aspects of the consulting business to sustain and expand a successful environmental operation while growing additional, related disciplines
+ Coordination with other units across the West U.S. and the Company
+ Develop strategic plan and financial budgets for group
+ Lead business development for group
+ Manage the financials aspects with monthly and quarterly business metric reporting
+ Communicate effectively with clients, staff and WSP leadership
+ Develop existing staff and identify and recruit new prospects for future growth

+ Provide senior review and direction on technical projects

Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.
+ 12+ years of Biology experience in a corporate environment in technical and management roles with an environmental consulting firm, experience in several local key market sectors (e.g., municipal, utilities, energy)
+ Experience with growing client programs utilizing multi-disciplined resources from across the Company
+ Expert knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of biological consulting, including flora, fauna, and habitats of California; special-status species and resources; and relevant federal, state, and local regulations of environmental resources
+ Experienced in successfully providing leadership to diverse (both technically and geographically) project teams.
+ Must be able to influence and lead team members both those with direct reporting relationships and those who report to others
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong personal safety culture and proven experience driving a safety culture
+ Experience in successfully advocating and/or negotiating with regulatory agencies and third parties in favor of client positions
+ Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
