Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, Testing & Implementation of Software for Automation Systems.
  • Preforming factory acceptance testing of Automation Systems, leading to a formal Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) with the customer, prior to delivery.
  • Preparation of FDS Documentation.
  • Research and Development into new products which could be used in Automation Systems.
  • Provide technical support to the sales, proposal, project, and design team. Including simulations, estimating, software and hardware selection.
  • Undertake fault finding during commissioning.
  • Offer technical support to customers, across email, phone, remotely, and on-site.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and other contractors.
  • Work in accordance with BS7617:2018 & Electrical specifications. Knowledge of EN IEC 60204

Skills & Experience

• Degree or HNC qualified, within a relevant Engineering discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics
• Experience of Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLC’s & HMI’s
• Knowledge of Robotic Applications, desirable
• Ability to writing PLC software using programming languages e.g., Ladder diagram (LD), Function block diagram (FBD), Structured text (ST), Instruction list (IL), and Sequential function chart (SFC)
• Designing, tagging, and testing control system mimics using HMI SCADA packages
• Experience of Safety Systems, (LOTO, Safety Zoning, Sistema)
• Knowledge of 415V and 24V machine power and control systems
• Possess a good understanding of engineering principles in Control System Design
• Able to work within control panels and make wiring modifications if required
• Ability to read Electrical Schematics
• Strong IT Skills, such as Microsoft.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel
• Ability to work in a team (and autonomously) to achieve end goals
• Full UK Driving Licence

OVERVIEW

Join our team as an Industrial Automation Engineer! This is a hybrid role based out of our Atlanta office in Peachtree City, GA. The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay.

Industrial Automation Engineers at Matrix Technologies work on a variety of automation projects in multiple industries ultimately solving client problems through the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of PLC based control systems.

Industrial Automation Engineers in this position work on projects in a team environment under the direction and mentorship of a more senior-level Industrial Automation Engineer. Project work involves a variety of clients in multiple industries using various control platforms. Industrial Automation Engineers interface with both external clients as well as other internal engineering disciplines within the Matrix organization to gather field data, prepare functional specifications, write PLC code, develop HMI graphics, perform client acceptance testing, and start-up new automation systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is responsible for assisting the project team with the software development process associated with both existing and new PLC based control systems. These systems often include the design of new Operator graphic screens, interfaces to other control systems, and interfaces to external computing platforms.
  • As a member of the Industrial Systems Automation team, this position includes assisting more senior engineers with preparing the project functional specification, project test specifications, developing PLC code, developing HMI graphics, executing a software Factory Acceptance Test, and performing on-site commissioning and start-up.
  • Project work associated with this position will vary and may involve control system upgrades, control system expansions, and/or new control system deployments.
  • Assisting with control system check-out, commissioning, and on-site start-up is also a responsibility of this position.
  • Prepare project correspondence as needed.
  • Maintain positive client relationships on projects assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four or more years’ experience as an Industrial Automation Engineer or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Technology or related field from an ABET-accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of PLC/HMI programming, automation, electrical troubleshooting and start-up experience.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineering (PE) certification is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Aveva experience.
  • Varied industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing.
  • Develop high-quality, error-free industrial software programs in keeping with the defined project requirements.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, both locally and overnight.

The primary function of the Industrial Sales Engineer for our full line card is to perform sales calls within a designated territory by calling on prospective and existing territory accounts as defined by the organization. The Account Manager is tasked with securing and supporting sales and agreements for MRO and OEM products and services representing our full line card in select customers. The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and managing a sales pipeline, and securing business towards the goal of achieving or exceeding annual sales objectives. The Sales Engineer strives to establish strong relationships throughout customer organizations (purchasing managers, maintenance, facilities, Safety, reliability and engineering departments) to ensure optimal customer satisfaction and revenue generation.

To be successfulyou will need to be a hunter who enjoys findingand developing both current and new accounts , a current market presence would also be very beneficial. This position has a very strong emphasis on growing our full offering of products and services.

You will be given an assigned list of current customer accounts but would also be expected to call on and develop new customers for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of outside sales in a specific territory.
  • Develops and maintains business relationships with key customers in that territory.
  • Forms long-term relationships with customers, including at the executive level of the location's top customer.
  • Set goals and objectives, generating revenue through market development, forecasting, lead generation, qualification, and closing sales.
  • Expand existing sales base through consistent performance, building rapport with existing and potential clients; explaining product and service capabilities; overcoming objections; preparing proposals and quotations. Provide solution and become a reliable resource for your customer base.
  • Cooperate and work with other Product Specialist, Customer Service teams and Engineers to exchange information and identify opportunities, qualify accounts to expand product sales.
  • Work and collaborate with factory representatives to grow revenue of key product lines.
  • Regularly learning new products based on key vendor initiatives and identifying more value added opportunities.
  • Perform sales calls, product demonstrations, and other developmental activities to increase market share of preferred channel partners is essential.
  • Maintain and submit activity reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A technical college degree, or a minimum of three (3) years' experience in industrial distribution sales or other combined relevant experience
  • Possess technical and/or mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven expertise in a minimum of 1 of the following: Machine Control, Motion Control, Safety, Robotics
  • The ability to utilize skills to solve customer problems and assist sales staff.
  • Proven achievement in year over year sales growth goals.
  • Under administrative direction, setting up own standard of performance. Virtually self-supervising.
  • Ability to Identify market potential by qualifying accounts.
  • Powerful sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Proven customer relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to understand written and oral English and be proficient with computer, email, spreadsheets and look up documents online
  • A Strong “team attitude” with the ability to work productively in group settings with other associates, customers, and vendors.
  • A commitment to the concept of “doing it right the first time”.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Aptitude to read parts manuals, vendor catalogs, understand blueprints, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Must be able to work in an industrial and manufacturing environment daily as required.
