The broad research interests of the lab are in understanding the molecular mechanisms through which new gene expression patterns evolve in yeasts, including fungal pathogens of humans. The applicant will conduct original research in microbial genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry, involving, but not limited to, primer design, PCR, yeast and bacterial transformations, gene disruption, validation colony PCRs, plasmid construction, sequencing, RNA extraction and sequencing, quantitative real-time qPCR, and functional analysis of microbial deletion mutants; perform general lab maintenance of laboratory stocks of DNA, bacteria, and yeast strains; update relevant databases; send requested strains out, maintain equipment, coordinate regulatory compliance. The applicant is expected to independently design, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments. The applicant will design and perform laboratory experiments as described above; present results to the lab; provide feedback on other lab member’s data. Perform routine lab equipment maintenance, sending out strains and reagents to other investigators; organizing and ordering lab supplies.

  • Perform routine lab equipment maintenance and manage lab supplies and ordering.
Qualifications
  • Junior Specialist — A baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
  • Assistant — Master’s degree or a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience.
  • Associate Specialist — Master’s degree (or equivalent) or five to ten years of relevant experience.
  • Full Specialist — Terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten or more years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
  • Candidate’s CV must state qualifications (or indicate pending) upon submission.

Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a Senior Tooling Engineer at the Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Raynham, MA or Westchester, PA facilities.

Purpose:

This individual will be part of the Technical Operations group, supporting the Enabling Technologies platform. This platform is responsible for robotics, powered handpieces, and other hardware and software technologies enabling our businesses in Joint Reconstruction, Spine, and Trauma.

The candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of tooling and manufacturing processes to support efficient production and product quality.

You will be responsible for:

Design of Tooling:

  • Conceptualization: The candidate will conceptualize tooling designs based on specific product requirements and production methods. This includes understanding the geometry and functionality of devices and their components to create effective tooling solutions.
  • Detailed Design: Use CAD software to create detailed blueprints for various tooling components (e.g., molds, jigs, fixtures, and dies). The designs should include tolerances, materials specifications, and assembly procedures.
  • Material Selection: Identify and select appropriate materials for tooling to ensure durability, cost-effectiveness, and compatibility with production processes.

2. Development of Tooling:

  • Prototyping: Coordinate the prototyping of tooling designs to validate their functionality. This involves collaborating with machine shops or in-house manufacturing teams to build initial tools.
  • Collaboration with Manufacturers: Engage with external vendors or internal manufacturing teams to ensure that tooling can be effectively produced at scale. Conduct feasibility studies to understand any technical constraints in the production of tooling.
  • Testing and Validation: Perform thorough testing on newly developed tools to ensure they meet required specifications and function properly in real production environments. Capture data on performance and iterate the design if needed.

3. Optimization of Manufacturing Processes:

  • Process Analysis: The engineer will analyze existing manufacturing processes and tooling performance, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. This might involve direct observation on the production floor, data analysis, and gathering team feedback.
  • Tooling Improvements: Implement modifications to tooling designs and processes aimed at enhancing productivity, reducing cycle times, and minimizing waste. This may also involve the integration of automation or other advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Standardization: Develop standardized practices and guidelines for tooling and manufacturing processes to ensure consistency and reliability in production output.

4. Support for Efficient Production:

  • Customer Relationships: Gain access to the right surgeons and buyer points within an account. Build effective customer relations with key surgeons, operating room personnel and other pertinent hospital personnel 

  • Case Coverage: Maintain appropriate surgeon/resident contact with all prospects or newly converted customers. Routinely provides support to surgeons and OR personnel during surgical cases

The Sales Consultant has front-line responsibility for developing and fostering new surgeon and account-level relationships within a geographic territory. Sales Consultants are primarily responsible for the conversion of prospect surgeons/accounts and penetration of existing customers through incremental sales, handling a book of business. This role will drive sales by understanding customers’ needs, then developing and carrying out a sales strategy that fulfils those needs. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Prospecting and Planning: Identify and qualify prospective surgeons and accounts. Develop and implement account or surgeon-specific plans and selling strategies to grow sales and convert new business. 

  • Achieve Business Plan Objectives and sales goals/quotas through accurate use of approved resources 

  • Product Sales: Drive product sales for all assigned products within an assigned territory or set of named accounts. Uses product and customer knowledge to present, demonstrate, and ensure proper utilization of products 

  • Customer Relationships: Gain access to the right surgeons and buyer points within an account. Build effective customer relations with key surgeons, operating room personnel and other pertinent hospital personnel 

  • Case Coverage: Maintain appropriate surgeon/resident contact with all prospects or newly converted customers. Routinely provides support to surgeons and OR personnel during surgical cases 

  • Customer Care: Strive to improve care for our patients. Service customer as a problem solver and maintain excellent response time and follow-up. Routinely educates Surgeons, OR and Central Supply Personnel through in-services and workshops 

  • Inventory Management: Maintain JnJ sales equipment and promotional materials in proper condition and use them to support territory efforts consistent with company policies and procedures. 

  • Handles and prioritizes competitive threats as appropriate 

  • Actively promotes new or special emphasis products and strategic selling objectives 

  • Implements a plan to achieve a balanced product sales mix in assigned territory 

Qualifications  

Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree + minimum of 3 years of professional and/or related experience or  

  • Associate degree or Medical Certification (CST, PT, etc.) + minimum of 5 years of professional and/or related experience or  

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional and/or related experience or  

  • Recently transitioned from Active Military Duty + minimum of 3 years of professional and/or related experience 

Other:  

  • The ability to work in a lab/operating room environment.  

  • A valid driver's license issued in the United States  

  • The ability to travel, which may include weekend and/or overnight travel.  

  • Residence in or ability to relocate to the posted territory.  

  • Strong interpersonal communication, influencing, critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.  

  • Experienced in data analysis and have excellent problem-solving skills  

  • Results orientation/Prioritization  

  • Ability to work independently and autonomously 

  • Partnership and Collaboration - Ability to work in a complex reporting structure 

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, communicate, and work in complex environments 

  • Functional knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, basic knowledge of surgery
