This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced Boilermakers to contribute to installing, repairing, and refurbishing boiler systems in a marine environment. We want to hear from you if you have the required expertise and experience! Position Overview: As a Specialist Boilermaker, you will install, assemble, test, and refurbish boiler systems, including pressure testing, re-facing, retubing, and welding. You will work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure all work is performed to exact specifications, and you will be expected to perform these tasks independently while serving as a leader for others in the Plate Shop. This role also includes troubleshooting, project planning, and contributing to safety initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Boiler System Testing: Conduct pressure testing, re-facing, and re-facing maintenance hole or handhole components and machine seating surfaces and use resurfacing machines to ensure system integrity. Refurbishing: Perform welding and repairs to seating surfaces that need alterations and refurbish items after alterations are completed. Retubing: Install new tubes, read tube identification drawings, expand tubes and seats, and use expander tools to ensure proper tube expansion. Burning: Operate hook-up torches and light torches with safety and precision. Blueprint Interpretation: Read, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints, sketches, and specifications to complete tasks. Refractory Work: Lay brickwork in the furnace and perform maintenance on anchor and burner tiles according to specifications. Tack Welding: Grind and tack weld materials; SMAW and FCAW certification is strongly preferred. Ship Fitting Skills: Set up and perform ship fitting tasks, including sketching vent patterns and using a CFM meter to measure and balance vents. Stainless Steel Work: Perform work with galley equipment, stainless steel tables, trim, water closets, urinal partitions, doors, and showers. Qualifications & Experience: 7-10 years of experience as a Boilermaker, with significant experience in marine or industrial settings. Proven experience in boiler installation, refurbishment, testing, and retubing. SMAW and FCAW welding certifications are strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of ship fitting and ability to work with various materials, including stainless steel. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for complex installations and repairs. Ability to understand naval vessel compartments, numbering systems, and ship terminology (CG, DDG, LHD). Basic knowledge of measuring tools and using scale and tape measure. Physically capable of performing manual tasks and wearing standard PPE, including hard hats and other required safety gear. Work Environment: You will work in shipyards or aboard vessels, performing your duties in complex marine systems. - Breakdown heat exchangers and related equipment
- Perform mechanical repairs, including welding, sawing, and grinding
- Assist with the line-up and assembly of tubesheets and baffles
- Load tubes into baffle assemblies
- Install test heads on bundles
- Assist with hydro testing
- Assist with loading and unloading of trucks transporting heat exchangers

Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
Use impact wrenches, combination wrenches, and line up pins to install valves and piping spools.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Skills and Experience:
3+ year's boilermaker experience in the fire protection, petrochemical, or oil refinery related industry preferred.
Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to forty pounds.
Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance, satisfactory driving record required.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background and drug/alcohol screening.
The ability to successfully pass plant security, drug screen (to include UA, hair follicle & breathalyzer).
Working Environment:
Industrial or shop environment. Frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in some customer environments during later part of training. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, gas releases, or fire. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
NCCER in Pipefitting/Boilermaker (preferred)
