A client of ours is looking for a CFO for a contract role with strong construction accounting expertise to oversee and guide all financial functions for a rapidly growing infrastructure construction firm. This strategic and hands-on role is ideal for someone with experience in civil or municipal infrastructure projects and a passion for driving financial clarity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities of CFO
+ Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
+ Provide executive-level financial strategy and risk management support.
+ Support operational decisions with data-driven financial analysis.
+ Oversee job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion).
+ Collaborate with project teams on bids, project budgets, and cost forecasting.
+ Ensure full compliance with government contract standards and audits.
+ Manage daily cash flow, working capital, and funding.
+ Coordinate project drawdowns and monitor receivables.
+ Maintain banking relationships and financing activities.
+ Oversee audits, tax filings, and insurance/surety requirements.
+ Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
+ Lead and mentor a small finance and accounting team (3-5 direct reports).
+ Enhance financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.

Requirements
Skills/Qualifications of CFO
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA a plus).
+ CPA preferred but not required.
+ 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in construction, ideally heavy civil or municipal infrastructure
+ Strong communication and presentation skills-able to work with field, executive, and client teams
+ In-depth knowledge of GAAP, WIP accounting, and construction job costing.
+ Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks, Viewpoint, etc.).
+ Demonstrated success leading finance teams in fast-paced environments.
+ Comfortable in a roll-up-your-sleeves environment
