About the Role

As a Civil Construction Foreman specializing in Site or Utility work, you will oversee the execution of underground utility projects while ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications. You will utilize your leadership and organizational skills to manage on-site operations, supervise crew members, and maintain effective communication with management. Your expertise in construction management software and budgeting will be vital in optimizing project schedules and resources.

Responsibilities

• Will be responsible for supervising crew members to ensure each project is completed efficiently, safely and profitably.
• Knowledge in trenching and excavation, confined spaces and hazardous materials and atmospheres.
• Must have site or utility foreman experience.
• Responsible to ensure that construction projects are performed in accordance with company procedures, as well as safety, environmental and other regulatory guidelines and mandates.
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities to crew and resolve problems when they arise.
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
• Monitor crew attendance and performance while providing crew leadership to include correcting improper work practices through training, coaching or reprimands.
• Ability to work in high-stress conditions and quickly changing environments.
• Ability to work in varied outdoor conditions that will include physically walking jobsites in different stages of construction. This may mean wet, dry, hot and cold conditions and rugged terrain.
• Excellent communication and written skills and ability to fill out forms electronically using an iPad or iPhone.
• Process and submit timecards for crew and report on progress to Superintendent, Managers, Engineers, etc. daily.

Qualifications

• Must have site or utility foreman experience in heavy civil construction.

Required Skills

Coastal Gunite Construction Company, founded in 1983, performs infrastructure rehabilitation work in the Eastern United States. We are hiring an experienced Construction Foreman to join our team in the Hampton Roads area!

Job Summary

This position requires knowledge in the general construction, concrete, structural steel and/or concrete repair work and the supervision of people. The Foreman will be able to plan and run the day-to-day operations on the jobsite, manage the crew, ensure the safety and compliance of the site, resolve on-site issues and emergencies, and coordinate closely with project management to ensure a successful project.

Travel is minimal.

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the construction operation; creates daily job reports.
• Responsible for the complete construction supervision and timeliness of the jobsite from start to finish
• Coordinate with different crafts, company departments, or other contractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support project activities and project schedule
• Ensure timecards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on
• Inspect all work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Regularly inspect work for quality and timeliness.
• Keep Project Engineer/Project Manager informed as to changing conditions in the field, so that such changes may be covered by contract change orders.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area. Make sure tools and equipment are placed in their proper storage area at the end of each day and the project site is secured.
• Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors. Continually strives for zero injuries on all projects.
