Drake State Community and Technical College is in Need Of A Custodian/Maintenance Worker For 6 Months To 10 Months: Essential Job Functions: The Custodial/Maintenance Employee shall perform duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.

However, these hours need to be flexible due to special events which could occur on or off campus and we could be called on to support. We also work some weekends (including Sundays) to perform deep cleaning when there aren’t as many people as possible on the campus. This job needs experienced and focused candidates who:

• Have a proven record of working in this type of job. Possess knowledge of the proper use of cleaning supplies. Are able to handle multiple tasks assigned. Are able to lift 50 lbs. Are able to stand, walk, lift, stoop and bend for prolonged periods. Are able to use common hand tools. Perform general housekeeping of buildings. Operate equipment/machinery such as buffers and vacuum cleaners. Keep buildings and assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition. Possess knowledge of the proper use of cleaning supplies Follow procedures and directions for the use of chemical cleaners. Clean, sanitize and disinfect restrooms to include toilets, urinals, sinks, walls, mirrors, fixtures, doors. Clean and sanitize all contact surfaces.
• Clean/clear blocked sink drains and toilets. Clean doors, grates, kickplates, and partitions. Mop restroom, classroom, breakroom, conference room and hallway floors. Dust and clean display bulletin boards, furniture, woodwork, fixtures, windows, window blinds, and other equipment. Stock and maintain supplies in restrooms and other assigned areas. Vacuum and spot-clean carpets. Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash appropriately. Maintain outside areas including sweeping or washing sidewalks and walkways and picking up debris from the perimeter of the buildings. Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment. Disinfecting and sanitizing bathrooms, office and classrooms as directed.
• Perform general maintenance functions to include Replace incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs. Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff tile floors. Ensure proper care in the use of maintenance and power equipment. Spray offices/classrooms/labs with insect repellent as needed. Keep storage areas neat and orderly. Process maintenance requests as assigned Assist in moving equipment and furniture. Assist with cleaning, set-up, and facility preparation for special meetings or events, to include moving/arranging furniture and equipment. Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Lead, Director of Operations and/or the President

Qualification:

• 1 year experience in custodial work
• Some general maintenance experience and the ability to use common hand tools
• GED or High School

St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Ann Arbor is seeking a Custodian/Maintenance Worker. This is a full-time, hourly (30-40 hours week) position from 3pm to 11pm reporting to the Head of Maintenance.

General Summary : Helps to provide adequate maintenance and preventative maintenance on all parish equipment, buildings, grounds, and vehicles to ensure safety to all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items for the school and parish.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of facility and equipment maintenance duties. May perform various routine maintenance and repairs including routine carpentry and plumbing duties based on skill level and experience.
• Help with a variety of installations, repair and renovation to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures.
• Installation, repair and renovation of some equipment including electrical appliances, valves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, and heating and cooling systems.
• Snow and ice removal from parking lots, ramps, and walkways.
• Lawn and landscaping duties.
• Drywall repair and painting duties.
• Moving and transporting furniture and equipment.
• Operates a variety of gas-powered trucks, tractors, and lawn equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance on trucks, tractors, and lawn equipment.
• Prioritizes and completes maintenance requests in a timely manner.

The Custodian/Maintenance Worker position is responsible for keeping the buildings and grounds clean, safe, and orderly and for enhancing the property's condition regarding all aspects of general maintenance, safety, and cleaning . Essential Functions:

• Service, clean, stock, and supply restrooms.
• Gather and empty trash in public areas, offices, and campus grounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Six (6) months’ experience in janitorial or housekeeping knowledge or equivalent, including knowledge of proper chemical handling (required)
