The Facilities Technician as part of the facilities team and under the direction of the Manager of Facilities, maintains and repairs the buildings, facilities, utility systems, equipment, and grounds. They are responsible for planning, budgeting, and scheduling facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials and other related costs.
The Facilities Technician assumes responsibility for allocated buildings, prioritizes and schedules daily tasks and maintenance requests.

- Conduct regular fire safety inspections, including smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, escape light and alarm test, and record all findings.
- Plan, schedule, and estimate time and materials needed to complete jobs.
- Report and keep record of jobs completed and materials used.
- Schedule and/or conduct snow removal when required.
- Keep an accurate record of all purchases using an assigned credit card and follow the agency process and procedures.
- Maintain cooperative and positive relations with employees, clients, partner agencies, volunteers, and donors, building occupants or tenants, contractors, public officials, and the public.

- Ensures that proper purchasing practices are followed when purchasing equipment / supplies.
- Reviews and maintains all warranties, lease agreements, outside preventive maintenance, housekeeping schedules, inspections, to ensure coverage is in place for all equipment, machinery and property.
- Manages storage for essential and required paper documents for the overall organization including managing outside contract.
- Maintain required health and safety inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards set by program funding sources.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in building and security management with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity and 2 years in multi-site operations.
- Demonstrated ability in implementing and oversee the use of electronic facility management systems to optimize operational and maintenance functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with a demonstrated ability to conduct analyses of costs and utilization.
- Must be knowledgeable in boilers, compressors, generators, computerized heating & cooling stems, global tracking systems, as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blue-prints.
- Knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
- Must posses a valid MA State Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation necessary to travel within the state.

Principal Accountabilities
- Completing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial electrical work throughout the facility
- Documenting all completed work and the conditions found, utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary
- Installing, maintaining, testing, evaluating, and repairing various electrical components and systems including medium voltage automation systems and motor control circuits
- Comprehending mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals
- Operating forklifts and/or scissor lifts
- Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions in a warm or cool environment, as well as slippery surfaces at varied heights
- Standing for long periods of time, the use of stairs and ladders, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas of the facility
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work in the US without an humanitarian Parole status related to Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela which is subject to the Federal Register Notice of revocation by DHS on March 25, 2025
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid and active Rhode Island Electrical B or M license
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions with the use of PPE, which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays with advance notice
- Basic use of a computer
- Basic experience troubleshooting and maintaining various electrical components and systems including medium voltage automation systems and/or motor control circuits
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Technical diploma or certification from a trade school, or a minimum of two years relevant work experience
- Advanced experience troubleshooting and maintaining various electrical components and systems including medium voltage automation systems and/or motor control circuits
- Experience with programming software, such as Rockwell, Siemens, etc
- Experience working with food industry technology, such as scales, metal detectors, etc
- Experience with creating, installing, and troubleshooting wiring system layouts and circuit routing
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Electronics Programming (PLC)
