Job Description
Since 2017, Flourish has been on a mission to help financial advisors evolve from holistic advice to holistic implementation to more fully serve their clients and achieve better outcomes. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors can't easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.
Today, we work with over 1,000 RIAs that collectively represent more than $2.6T in assets under management across two products - Flourish Annuities and Flourish Cash - and with our recent acquisition of Sora Finance, we'll be adding a lending offering in 2026. Headquartered in New York City, we are an independently-operating, wholly-owned subsidiary of MassMutual Life Insurance Company.
Read on if you are interested in joining a small, highly-collaborative, rapidly-growing startup-backed by the support and stability of a Fortune 500 company.
About You
You are detail oriented with focus on accuracy and integrity as you work with and present data. You have sound judgment in determining when to prioritize speed versus quality. You work hard to first understand the root problem that your customers are trying to solve when they ask for data or analysis and you have the experience and technical skills to devise effective, scalable solutions to meet their needs in a timely manner.
You strive for clarity and consistency in communicating with others, avoiding unnecessary jargon, acronyms, etc. You have the ability to develop expert-level knowledge in multiple areas of a business and to discuss these topics with other experts and non-experts alike. You are creative when it comes to thinking through data and apply advanced conceptual thinking and rigorous analytical methodology where possible.
You are seeking a small, fast-moving, and high-performing team where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on all parts of the business as it grows and evolves. You want to help build a company and work with like-minded people.
About the Role
Your work will provide a critical contribution by delivering reporting, analysis and insights derived from a variety of data sources to partners across the Flourish business. You will work in an agile manner to deliver meaningful value to your internal customers and be responsible for managing your own time and workstream. You will architect and develop data transformation pipelines as well as analytics, insights and dashboards. You have a strong grasp of best practices for data warehousing and Business Intelligence without getting caught up with orthodoxy.
You thrive in a work environment that requires strong critical thinking skills and self-direction, as well as constant collaboration. You can give and receive thoughtful feedback, and are excited to start on the next iteration of your work. Your work will enable the Flourish team to monitor and measure the business and progress towards our goals.
Principal Responsibilities
- Partner with all Flourish product development teams to ensure that data essential to measuring our business and product is captured effectively and efficiently.
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain analytics pipelines that build our data warehouse and power dashboards and analyses
- Work in a BI tool (e.g. Tableau) to build, automate and maintain key outputs from this data, including dashboards, reports and interactive data sets
- Perform ad hoc research and analysis using data in both a warehouse database and in a BI tool
- Write and maintain documentation covering the key areas that you work in
- Teach technical and non-technical users how to work with various Flourish data resources
- Work directly with internal customers across Flourish, taking ownership of determining root problems, devising solutions, and managing communications along the way
- Work independently and collaboratively with the team on highly visible cross-divisional projects
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies as related to our data warehouse and track effectiveness of our tools
- Bachelor's Degree in science, technology, engineering or math or equivalent experience
- 5+ years working in business intelligence, analytics, data engineering, data science or similar related technical work
- Due to the nature of this position, as part of the background check process, candidates must be able to pass a fingerprint background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRA.
