General Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of warehouse operations across central and branch locations, along with a complete understanding of the following warehouse disciplines: Receiving, Inventory Management, Order Fulfillment, Quality Control, Shipping and Logistics, Transportation Management, Safety and Compliance, and Staff Development. This role is critical to ensuring operational excellence, system integrity, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manages the day-to-day warehouse operational processes and tasks including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, quality control, shipping, logistics, transportation, delivery, inventory control, and cycle counting.
- Creates procedures and processes which clearly define the workflow and tasks required to fulfill department objectives and reviews them to ensure optimum customer service levels and on-time shipping performance.
- Responsible and accountable for the accuracy of inventory counts, the control of the movement of all inventory material into and out of all warehouses, and accuracy and integrity in all warehouse operations.
- Develops and manages warehouse record keeping systems and ensures integrity of all inventory documentation.
- Serves as the department Warehouse Management System Champion and continuously identifies, recommends, and implements process automation opportunities.
- Manages department staff through counseling, coaching, advocating and mentoring, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Completes performance reviews for direct reports and approves performance reviews of all other warehouse staff.
- Guides Supervisors in hiring, training and reviewing warehouse staff, utilizing KPI metrics to monitor, measure and adjust performance accordingly.
- Monitors warehouse trends and best practices, makes recommendations and informs senior management as necessary.
- Ensures smooth and efficient transitions between all shifts and optimizes labor allocation to meet operational demand.
- Designs, manages, and maintains delivery schedules and driver performance programs to guarantee on-time delivery to customers and branches.
- Leads and refines Vendor Managed Inventory and crib programs to provide best-in-class customer service and reduce operational inefficiencies.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal and State warehouse discipline-related laws, Quality Management System standards, OSHA safety requirements, the Associate Manual, and Mission Statement of Exotic.
- Ensures warehouse areas, warehouse equipment and vehicles are appropriately maintained and kept clean according to established standards.

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field – will consider equivalent work experience.
- Seven (7) years of progressive operational work experience in warehousing and distribution operations.
- Two (2) years of previous leadership and supervisory experience.
- Proven track record of pioneering, developing and successfully implementing operational improvements.
- Advanced proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office programs, Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, and inventory control software.
- Functional knowledge of conveyor systems, carousel storage systems, and handheld radio frequency equipment.
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze operational data and metrics.

About the Role - The Warehouse Manager performs the following:
- Oversee all warehouse operations, providing supervision and direction to warehouse personnel.
- Establish, track, and continually monitor KPIs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Forecast and budget costs for all warehouse operations.
- Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for performance, safety, and compliance.
- Ensure all Shipping and Receiving Associates are fully trained and proficient in using scanners for all items.
- Maintain accurate bin locations for home and overstock items, ensuring stock is received, stored, and replenished efficiently.
- Analyze labor and material cost variances to drive continuous improvement in production and handling.
- Develop and enforce strategies to identify and eliminate shipping and receiving errors.
- Supervise outbound shipments and receiving activities, ensuring compliance with company policy and customer requirements.
- Oversee warehouse equipment, ensuring proper use, maintenance, and safety.
- Maintain OSHA standards and lead warehouse safety initiatives.
- Assist with physical inventories, replenishment, and space/rack planning in coordination with Logistics.
- Utilize dashboards to track shipments, orders, and workload in real time; act as internal traffic control for workflow.
- Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing to resolve order discrepancies and ensure special instructions are followed.
- Provide leadership reports and maintain accurate documentation of warehouse activities.
- Support warehouse operations directly as a working manager when needed (receiving, picking, packing, shipping).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - The Warehouse Manager should possess the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Business Operations or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing warehouse operations and 5 years’ experience managing people .
- Scanner experience is required ; candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge and usage in daily operations.
- Proven ability to analyze data, labor costs, and operational performance to improve outcomes.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to motivate and hold teams accountable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work cross-departmentally.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a Customs Bonded Warehouse preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Starship, WorldShip, ScanForce, and Sage a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform warehouse physical activities as needed.
Salary Range - The salary range for this role is $115,000-$125,000 with annual bonus eligibility.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing warehouse operations. These operations include shipping, inventory, delivery. Your goal will be to increase operational efficiency and ensure a safe environment. The Warehouse Manager, under the supervision of the Director, plans, directs and coordinates the operations of the organization. The Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
Responsibilities
- Track and manage inventory
- Inspect warehouse and keep the warehouse clean and safe
- Manage warehouse staff
- Evaluate performance metrics to ensure quality delivery and cost-efficient work-flow processes
- Oversees the activities of all functions involved in the planning, warehousing and control of materials -- from the development of forecasted replenishment needs to the delivery of the product into finished goods inventory and delivery of products to customers
- Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement, including USDA and FDA regulations
- Participates in existing and new product planning processes to ensure timely acquisition of materials to support product launches
- Oversight of all warehouse and distribution operations
- Manages warehouse operations to maximize efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of delivery of finished goods to customers
- Monitors inventory and establishes controls to ensure the company is operating at the highest level of performance based on key performance metrics and minimized supply chain risk
- Works to optimize usage of the company’s systems, for purposes of efficiency, cost reduction, and inventory control
- Monitors all facilities for compliance with safety and all other environmental and operational standards and regulations, ensuring that a “safety first” culture is maintained in all locations.
- Executes special projects in a timely manner.
- Assists with establishing annual goals and objectives, in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Hires candidates, coaches and mentors effectively, and builds strong teams
- Collaborates easily with all levels of the organization and serves and contributes as a member of the organization’s Executive Management Team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
In lieu of degree, minimum of 5years’ experience
- Minimum five years related experience in a high-level management position with P&L responsibility
Produce and/or food distribution experience required working knowledge of USDA & FDA compliance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word)
