THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior BI Engineer is a critical team member focused on the delivery of data products ranging from enterprise dashboards and providing insights that drive growth, to creating self-service data sources and empowering our partners to make decisions that push our business forward.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In addition to following policies and procedures, principal role mix includes, but is not limited to:
- Build and maintain Power BI semantic data layer, including self-service reporting capabilities (Tabular cubes), and data products within the Microsoft business intelligence technology stack.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for creating self-service data solutions via SSRS and Power BI data sources.
- Design and developing custom solutions to address unique business needs in order to drive accountability to metrics, and measure success of new initiatives.
- Work with data product owners, enterprise program management, and business stakeholder teams to understand and implement defined requirements.
- Support maintenance for developed data products with respect to enhancements and bug fixes
- Continually iterate on to stay up to date with industry best practices, tool limitations and new feature introduction.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
- 5-10 years of experience in a technology-side data role with a focus on time-sensitive reporting.
- Expertise in the Microsoft BI stack. Including SQL Server, PowerBI, SSRS, MOLAP, ROLAP and Tabular Cubes. Azure DevOps, SSIS, SSAS experience a plus
- Expert skills all things Power BI: SQL, DAX, Tabular, Data Flows, Power Query, Power Shell.
- Excellent understanding of dimensional and transactional data modeling for reporting strategies and technologies.
- Ability to design and implement Power BI data sources to support enterprise reporting - 10 thousand users and beyond.
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable, fault tolerant, and highly complex data sources with an aptitude to always evaluate and performance tune data solutions.
- Excellent understanding of Relational and Non-Relational data stores - i.e. SQL Server, Oracle, Cosmos DB, Snowflake.
- Design and Implement complex designs with a high degree of visual and functional integrity.
- Ability to guide junior members of the team including performing peer code reviews, adhering to departmental standards, and instructing team members on new technologies.
- Ability to implement and troubleshoot reporting/analytics changes and modifications.
