Job Summary:
Perform a variety of histology laboratory functions, which include processing of specimens, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining and slide distribution. Produce quality tissue processing and histologic specimens to the expectations of pathologists and clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
1. Perform histology laboratory procedures with a high degree of proficiency and efficiency. Meet departmental productivity standards.
2. Operate laboratory equipment, interfaces and instruments, perform and document basic and advanced maintenance and complex calibration procedures. Serve as Key Operator for assigned instrument(s) as needed or directed.
3. Perform routine logging for Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA) purposes. Collect and compile QA data as directed. Monitor QC for trends and take corrective action as needed or directed. Participate in QC/QA tracking.
4. Follow through on problems; develop appropriate solutions using defined guidelines.
5. Coordinate, compile and prepare QA data and perform audits as necessary.
6. Review and prepare monthly QC reports.
7. Assist with the development of procedure documents and job aids as needed.
8. Perform all troubleshooting procedures. Identify problems and develop appropriate solutions using defined guidelines.
9. Under general supervision, perform research and development tasks to include research and validation testing.
10. Actively participate in preparation for regulatory inspections, taking responsibility for section and/or department as assigned.
11. Participate in training new employees and students where appropriate:
12. Provide instruction and information regarding protocols and theory as appropriate.
13. Track progress of trainees.

Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 60 hours of college which include 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry in any combination.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- Nine (9) months of direct Histology experience (independent embedding, microtomy) OR completion of TriCore's Histology Apprentice Program.
- Qualified for enrollment in an accredited NAACLS histology training program. Requirements include High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion college level courses in biology, chemistry and math.

- Relevant ASCP or equivalent certification.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Treatment Responsibilities : May be required to carry a caseload of clients and facilitates weekly individual counseling sessions with each caseload participant. Provides learning experience opportunities and offers clinical support to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals. Proactively links clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs and follows up on the progress/status.
Treatment Setting Responsibilities : Facilitates group counseling sessions, community meetings and teaches classes on various treatment-related topics. Performs crisis intervention and communicates with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise. Documents any client updates and incidents in the facility log daily. As needed, accompanies clients to offsite appointments related to their treatment. Attends required trainings and meetings related to their position. Plans and facilitates client celebrations and special events. May work weekends and evenings as needed.
Documentation Responsibilities : Collaborates with each caseload client and other available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes, weekly treatment summaries, and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the client. Properly documents all aspects of treatment including services and treatment planning in accordance with HIPPA and Drug Medi-Cal billing compliance requirements. This includes completing all consent forms, authorizations to release information, individual and group counseling sessions, discharge paperwork/process, and required assessments in timely manner. Also, maintains accurate records by data entering documentation into various electronic systems for all caseload clients in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, and Experience
Required:
- High school diploma.
- Registration with Drug and Alcohol Certification recognized by Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).
- First Aid Certified and CPR Certified within 30 days of employment.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
- Drug and Alcohol certification recognized by DHCS.
- Bachelor's degree in related field.

The Nurse Resident performs basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including specialized tasks and procedures involving the physical, psychosocial, safety, and security needs of the patient.
