Responsibilities

We’re experiencing strong and increasing demand for our product from customers across multiple industries, use cases, and countries. To support commercial activity across sales teams at Mainspring and our partners, we are expanding our Market Strategy team and are seeking a dynamic and versatile Market Strategy Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for go-to-market strategy creation and implementation.

Responsibilities of The Market Strategy team include: New Market Entry
  1. Analyze market size and Mainspring right to win across our key segments in new potential geographies (domestic and abroad).
  2. Collaborate with Energy Analysts on the Project Analytics team to understand how Linear Generator project economics compare to that of the next best alternatives (grid, engines, etc.) in each new potential geography.
  3. Track logistics of selling and installing in markets (e.g., product certifications, product modifications, tariffs, shipping, etc.), collaborating with the Policy, Product, and Project Delivery teams as needed.
Channel Strategy
  1. Collaborate with the Channel team to identify the right type of channel partner to pursue in the relevant geography and/or segment (e.g., EPC, teaming partner, reseller, etc.).
  2. Support the Channel team in defining O&M and shipment negotiation strategy with new channel partners.
Customer targeting and need mapping
  1. Help sales leaders across segments (e.g., C&I, Data center, etc.) prioritize their outreach efforts to the most lucrative subsegments and geographies based on analysis of market size and right to win.
  2. Generate list of target customers for the Sales Development Representative teams (SDRs) to pursue.
  3. Collaborate with Product Marketing to understand “voice of the customer” across target segments, which will inform marketing and outreach approach.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelors degree required (bonus points for degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering).
  2. At least 10 years of total work experience across clean energy and/or DER technologies and strategy or management consulting experience (or similar).
  3. Proven track record of completing commercial analysis that informs go-to-market strategies.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis and research to various stakeholders.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Bay Area salary for this role is $55k- 180k base + bonus + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be remote. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

The Bay Area salary for this role is $30k- 155k base + bonus + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be remote. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

  • Independently prices and writes full proposals of all types, with goal of growing Ipsos business and presence with assigned clients
  • Has vision to spectrum of client needs and helps connect the dots between projects.

  • May include new business outreach and structured business development plans

  • Mentors and trains junior team members on best practices and career growth on an ongoing basis
  • Creates "internal brand" within Ipsos and specific thought should be given to the unique area (whether client facing and/or internal facing) and activities that will help guide what they want to be "known for" as an expert within and outside of Ipsos
  • Acts as primary project lead to the client, overseeing more junior members.
  • Handles more complex conversations/communications around project design, analysis, and unexpected challenges.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to more junior team members on their own client interactions.
  • Project management tasks focused on providing guidance, oversight and review of custom survey development, in-field challenges and significant input to analysis planning and execution.
  • Leads/co-leads final report writing elements, strategic client guidance and presentation of findings.
  • May act as manager to one or more Account Managers/Senior Account Managers.
  • Includes overseeing training schedule, day-to-day guidance and supervision, and providing feedback (both ongoing and during annual review and goal setting).
  • Acts as strategic leader for project team and (in some cases) for client account team overall.
  • Thinks through implications of actions, identifies opportunities and risks, and acts accordingly, balances providing what the client needs with the optimal outcome for Ipsos.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of research experience; ideally at least 5 years on the supplier side.

In accordance with NY/CO/CA/WA law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $125,000.
