Client is seeking a manager who is not only expert on the technology and high performance database design, but also equally adept at managing high achieving teams, developing database standards and hands-on troubleshooting of SQL Server performance issues.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of standards, processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology) and ensuring consistency in operations
- Develop operations to ensure optimal performance, availability and scalability of all critical database environments at all times
- Lead the troubleshooting of any database performance or stability issues
- Identify sub-optimal database architecture, design, or operational practices and lead the execution of projects to address them
- Create monitoring standards and practices to ensure complete visibility of all database operations and supporting infrastructure
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum seven years’ experience supporting MSSQL server in a high availability, high transaction OLTP environment with a minimum of 5 years managing DBAs in similar environments.
- Excellent root cause and impact assessment skills
- Adept analytical skills with the ability to conduct methodical and well-reasoned analysis of performance issues
- SQL Server database engine on contemporary versions of SQL Server
- Demonstrable knowledge of how it operates along with strengths and weaknesses of the design/architecture and troubleshooting core database engine and configuration issues
- AlwaysOn architecture, clustering, mirroring, and transactional replication
- Indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, partitioning. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
- SQL Server monitoring/performance tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs)
- SQL Development – ability to write, review and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
- Windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage and storage sub-systems
- Experience migrating SQL Server to a big data solution is a plus

The Senior Manager - MSSQL DBA Team is responsible for leading a global team of professional Database Administrators in the design, performance, and operational excellence of Microsoft SQL Server environments. - Expertise in SQL Server internals, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Strong project management skills for large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
- Ability to understand application architectures and data flows for performance and scalability.
