Able to perform mammography quality control tests, determine compliance with established standards and document results, instituting corrective action and/or suspend performing studies if necessary to maintain compliance with established standards. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning logs as applicable
- Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the radiologist’s review, atypical conditions which could affect image quality. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Medical Imaging Supervisor or Lead/designee when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist
- Conscious of radiation safety measures and demonstrates competence in the selection and use of shielding devices as is age appropriate for the patient or as requested when study content will not be compromised. Utilizes sterile technique when applicable for invasive procedures
- Participates in formal and in service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same

Education:
One (1) of the following required:
Graduate of an academic program of health sciences or invasive cardiovascular technology; or
Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing; or
If employee has been credentialed as an RCIS by the CCI since 2013 or earlier, formal education is not required
Licenses/Certifications:
Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support and one (1) of the following required:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International; or
Registered Radiological Technologist in Cardiovascular-Interventional Technology (ARRT-CV) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; or
Licensed Vocational Nurse by the State of Texas
Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills:
Four (4) years of prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, required
Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions
Principal Accountabilities
- Provides technical support to physicians during catheterization procedures as a scrub technician, charter or driver, providing physician with handling of sterile equipment
- Records all types of cardiovascular procedures; performs physiologic monitoring of patients during procedures interpreting ECG patterns and dysrhythmias;
- Analyzes arterial and venous blood gas and respired gas samples through the operation of automatic analyzing equipment to determine patient’s cardiac output, metabolic state and oxygen saturation.
- Enters patient data in computer for patient record at a competent level and according to the age/needs of the patient/population served.
- Operates recording and imaging equipment, as required, and maintains quality control of hemodynamic equipment and film processing equipment. Identifies and helps resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Demonstrates excellent technical skills. Acts as a resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists. Introduces and demonstrates new techniques to the other technologists.
- Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department.
- Functions as a liaison between physicians, technologists and department support staff.
- Helps schedule technologists to ensure appropriate staffing for expected patient volumes
- Intervenes to help solve issues and complaints
- Identifies areas of opportunity within department and makes recommendations for quality and/or process improvement.
- Maintains supplies and equipment in the Cardiac Cath Laboratory according to department standards.
