We are partnered with a next-generation biotechnology company using artificial intelligence to revolutionize the process of discovering and developing new therapies. Our mission is to design protein-based and antibody therapeutics that address targets long considered difficult or impossible to drug. We are building powerful generative AI and foundational models tailored to biology and diseaseenabling better target discovery, patient stratification, and increased efficiency throughout the drug development process.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Principal Scientist, Computational Biology to join our Computational Biology team within our Biology & Drug Discovery division. This is a high-impact role that will combine strategic leadership with hands-on scientific contributions, focused on genomics and proteomics initiatives to support target discovery, mechanistic insights, and translational development.

Youll act as a key scientific contributor and mentor, collaborating closely with both wet-lab and computational scientists. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in computational biology, biomarker development, and translational informatics, as well as a strong record of success driving cross-functional efforts in pharmaceutical or biotech settings. This position requires on-site work in South San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities

  • Omics Strategy & Analysis : Design, execute, and guide transcriptomic, proteomic, and multi-omics studies in preclinical models to uncover mechanisms of action, discover biomarkers, and support therapeutic optimization.
  • Translational Data Integration : Analyze and integrate clinical, molecular, and real-world data to derive insights that inform patient stratification, indication selection, and biomarker strategy across the pipeline.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Act as a scientific liaison and advisor to translational medicine, clinical development, and biostatistics teams, aligning computational insights with program goals.
  • Scientific Communication : Communicate findings and strategies clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, both internal and external, ensuring alignment and understanding across disciplines.
  • Leadership & Mentorship : Provide mentorship to junior team members, contribute to hiring and team development, and promote scientific excellence and a collaborative, innovative culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Education : PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Genomics, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience : 10+ years of experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sectors, including postdoctoral and industry experience as a senior-level individual contributor.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Strong background in multi-omics data analysis (e.g., bulk/single-cell RNA-seq, proteomics, genomics)
  • Proven ability in biomarker identification, patient stratification, and interpretation of clinical datasets
  • Proficiency in R, Python, Git, Docker, and cloud-based computing environments
  • Familiarity with clinical assay technologies and regulatory contexts
  • Translational Impact : Experience contributing to regulatory submissions and supporting clinical biomarker strategies in early-stage programs.
  • Collaboration & Communication : Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated success working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.

**_Objective_**
The purpose of this position is to deliver on the priorities of Global Biologics research and Biologics Engineering and Antibody Discovery organization by contributing to the discovery, optimization, and engineering of the antibody and CAR-T cells by deep mining repertoire of therapeutic antibodies using NGS to accelerate programs to IND.
**_Accountabilities:_**
+ Develop and implement robust pipelines for analyzing large-scale bulk and single B-cell sequencing datasets for biologics discovery workflows, including QC, annotation, prioritization, and reporting of heavy and light chain/VHH sequences.
+ Improve antibody screening and in silico analysis workflows by implementing standard automated protocols for the antibody curation, annotation, and interpretation of large antibody-specific datasets
+ Lead the biologics discovery campaigns using well-designed, and optimized bioinformatics workflows to accelerate therapeutic discovery by analyzing sequencing datasets from various sources, such as immunization and selection campaigns.
+ Propose a rationale library design strategy based on the antibody selection output to further affinity mature and optimize biologics.
+ Advance antibody sequences from _in vitro (_ yeast and phage _),_ _in vivo_ (single/bulk B cells/VHH) or _de novo_ (AI-based) platforms with the goal to deeply interrogate repertoires, expand functional sequence diversit,y and affinity to accelerate the lead discovery.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sequencing data with other data generated from antibody discovery engine
+ Ability to use AWS and HCP infrastructure for additional compute needs
+ Use Docker and GitHub for reproducibility of workflow and version control, respectively
+ Develop UI to seamlessly integrate flow of sequencing data from various discovery platforms and relevant information
+ Meet established timelines, maintain accurate records of work, and present data at team, departmental, and company-wide meetings
**_Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):_**
+ Education: BS, MS, or PhD in a relevant scientific field
+ Experience: If BS, then 11+ years. If MS, then 9+ years. If PhD, then 2-3 years of previous work experience
+ A strong background in computational biology and scientific programming languages (R/Python)
+ In-depth experience analyzing NGS data, including B-cell receptor and antibody repertoire sequencing data and selection data from antibody surface display
+ Deep overall understanding of in vivo and in vitro antibody discovery platforms
+ Minimum 2 years of industry experience in hands-on NGS data analysis (RNAseq /scRNAseq) utilizing custom workflows and pipelines.

$111,800.00 - $175,670.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. Our client, a leading research institution, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist specializing in Computational Biology to join their cutting-edge team in Provo, Utah, US . This vital role will focus on developing and applying advanced computational methods to analyze complex biological datasets, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries in areas such as genomics, proteomics, and systems biology. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field, coupled with extensive experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and bioinformatics tool development. Key responsibilities include designing and executing computational experiments, analyzing large-scale biological data (e.g., next-generation sequencing data), developing novel algorithms and software tools, and interpreting results to answer fundamental biological questions. You will collaborate closely with experimental biologists, providing computational support and expertise to drive research projects forward. This position requires strong programming skills (Python, R, Perl), familiarity with high-performance computing environments, and a deep understanding of biological principles.
