Crane Operator
Cascade Bridge, LLC is currently seeking an experienced crane operator for a bridge construction project in Kelso, WA.
Cascade Bridge, LLC is a heavy-highway general contractor specializing in bridge construction primarily in Washington and Oregon. We offer comprehensive benefits to include health insurance and pension.
Compensation is per prevailing wage laws. Actual wage rates vary per project specifications. Many projects have a current wage for Crane Operators in Kelso, WA area of $52.15 per hour plus $18.35 in fringe benefits (health insurance and pension).
Crane Operator Job Duties
Operate lattice boom crawler and hydraulic rough terrain cranes to lift, move, and set objects in support of bridge construction operations. Typical activities include but are not limited to: pile driving with impact and vibratory hammers, hoisting/setting reinforcement, flying concrete forms, placing concrete with use of garbro bucket, erection of precast concrete and steel girders, and erection of temporary work features (cofferdams, box girder falsework, work trestles, etc.).
Crane Operator Job Qualifications
- 3+ years previous crane operating experience, preferably on heavy-civil construction projects such as bridges/highways, dams/spillways, wastewater facilities, fish hatcheries, pump stations, marine-based construction, etc.
- Current NCCCO certification for lattice boom crawler cranes and telescopic boom cranes swing cab
- Pile driving experience is a plus
- Friction crane experience is a plus
- Ability to operate additional heavy equipment is a plus
- CDL class A license is a plus

- Responsible for a variety of tasks in connection with the physical loading and unloading of heavy equipment/wheeled and tracked vehicles at a Distribution Center.
- Operates and performs maintenance on heavy mobile, stationary, and gantry cranes up to 150 ton capacity
- Inspects cranes and riggings for safety and maintenance problems. Reports deficiencies which are beyond operator capability to repair.
- Installs and uses various jibs, booms, and riggings to accommodate the required lift.
- Performs load tests at various boom angles and ensures crane capacity at different angles is not exceeded.
- Performs rigging duties in fabrication, selections, installation and use of cables, ropes, chains, and other weight handling equipment used to lift, move, and position heavy loads.
- Secures a variety of heavy material, pre-blocked flat racks and trucks prior to loading, clamps or straps loaded material, cuts blocks, wedges, and parts for wooded bracing, and builds temporary decking, bulkheads, and cribbing around items.
- Operates commercial and tactical vehicles of all classes and design.
- Inputs and updates data into the Distribution Standard System (DSS).

Physical Effort
Exposed to extremely loud noise of diesel engines and muscle cramps/strain from long periods of operating cranes and other heavy equipment. Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh up to 70 pounds.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within both inside and outside working areas. May work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted. May work in bad weather in such areas as open docks or storage yards. The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment. Hearing, eye, head, and foot protection is required.
