Job Description

The Cyber Watch Operations Analyst is responsible for planning, implementing, upgrading and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. You will assess system vulnerabilities for security risks and propose and implement risk mitigation strategies. You may ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure in addition to responding to computer security breaches and viruses.

Project Specific: The Cyber Watch Operations Analyst will participate in security event monitoring and correlations withing a tiered Security Operations Center.

With proven experience and ability, you will leverage CND analyst toolsets to detect and respond to IT security incidents. You will conduct research and document threats and their behavior to include monitoring external CSIRTS/CERTs. Assist in providing recommendations for threat mitigation strategies. Employ effective web, email, and telephonic communications to clearly manage security incident response procedures. Perform routine event reporting over time including trend reporting and analysis. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of TCP-IP protocol implementations for all common network services in addition to demonstrated capability to perform network packet analysis and anomaly detection.

Position Responsibilities:

· Prepare, review, and update authorization packages

· Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media

· Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package

· Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly

· Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals

· Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)

· Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management) relative to assigned duties

· Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of the countermeasures for them

· Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems

· Review, track, and conduct contract required annual trainings

Qualifications

Experience Required:

· Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or Associate’s degree with at least 7 years of experience.

· DoD Secret Security Clearance

· Experience required in security or network technology (Unix/Windows OS, Cisco/Juniper Routing-Switching) within a hands-on Implementation or Administration role.

Certifications Required:

· CompTIA Security+ Certification

· Professionally certified, within a CND discipline, as Technical Level as defined by DODI 8570 is a requirement

The Supervisor, Cyber Operations, will play a key role in GSOC's Security Operations department, including a focus on meeting NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements to ensure cyber security of the programmable electronic devices and networks digital within our Operational Technology (OT) network. Responsibilities
  • Manage OT security event monitoring alert response, initial triage, and escalation
  • Manage OT access provisioning and revocation of accounts and roles required for CIP systems, data, and applications

Job Duties

  • Lead efforts to develop cyber programs, processes and activities that meet strategic business and security objectives and enable uninterrupted business and operations activities.
  • Provide work direction and technical assistance to analysts in the Security Operations department. Take a hands-on role in mentoring, coaching, and developing other team members.
  • Develop, review, and implement programs and processes to ensure compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards.
  • Support development of programs and processes based on projects and collaboration with other GSOC departments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and security trends. Inform Manager, Security Operations on strategic technology and security planning.
  • Provide input to management on associates' performance. Provide input to management on annual budget issues and monitors expenditures to comply with the approved budget.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience: + Requires 10 or more years of experience with increasing responsibilities. Experience may include physical security, cyber security, network engineering, information technology, SCADA/EMS infrastructure support, managing budgets, or staff supervision. Peraton is seeking an experienced Cyber Operations SME to join our talented team of technical and business experts providing key operational and mission support to a SI/SETA mission for a customer in Virginia.

The ideal Cyber Operations SME candidate shall possess Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO) and/or Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) expertise.

Our unique team of technical and business disciplines provide operational support for Systems Engineering and Integration, Mission Planning, and Business Operations to multiple functional mission areas. The team is responsible for the technical design, operations, and mission planning and business operations for the full life cycle of customer specific operations (from concept through development and installation/O&M).

In this role, the Cyber Operations SME will act as a Technical Advisor/Consultant to critical SI/SETA activities and serve as a primary interface between the Program customers/stakeholders, the technical development team, and end users. They will ensure robust requirements definitions, execution and development processes, solutions as well as support testing/training in advance of the deployment of technical capabilities. They will be expected to support multiple efforts and will assist the customer in making informed decisions related to requirements and developments. They will also assist with the deployment of technical capabilities while serving as a focal point to balance various equities and operational considerations.

The Cyber Operations SME will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

    Serve as a senior advisor and have concrete experience/knowledge of the following subject areas: deployment and operations, risk and strategy management, network analysis and exploitation.
  • Provide expertise in the design, development, implementation and testing of customer tools and applications, priorities and requirements for cyber operations and cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Oversee and be responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of processes, standards, policies, working methods and tools.
  • Advise and support a wide range of operational activities and will be expected to actively engage with a variety of customers and stakeholders.
  • Respond and support evolving and dynamic mission-critical activities and provide any requirements and strategies for current/future operations.
  • Work with a team to conduct network trend analysis and performance of the networks.
  • Review all integration efforts to ensure engineering rigor and security practices are maintained and advise the classified customer of any possible risks/concerns/improvements.
  • Work alone and with a team to research, create, and brief with recommendation(s) of appropriate Course of Action (COA).
  • Have extensive knowledge/experience with evaluating target opportunities using multiple platforms, map target networks, and assist in developing detailed exploitation and operations plans.
  • Be able to develop new tradecrafts needed to perform, as technologies evolve.

**This role requires the candidate to perform duties on-site Mon-Fri. May require up to 25% travel, based on customer needs**

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or any relevant technical field and twelve (12) years of relevant experience; or a masters degree and ten (10) years of relevant experience; or a PhD and seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 10+ years of senior level experience within the areas of deployment and operations, risk and strategy management, network analysis and exploitation for a government customer; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience.
  • A minimum of two (2+) years of experience providing services for an engineering-related mission involving either cyber operations, communications, supply chain expertise, military asset tracking, and/or deep-sea communications support.
  • Expertise in either offensive or defense cyberspace operations.
  • Must have strong written, communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to prepare and brief complex technical and non-technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be a self-starter who will take initiative for helping manage key parts of complex technical developments.
  • Possess a desire and ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects and be willing and able to aggressively learn the activities and focus of the organization.
  • Must be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or higher in a related technical discipline is highly desired.
  • Experience working in customer environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Customer's processes and procedures to minimize the learning curve for project/task navigation.
