Cybersecurity Specialist - Network Security
Role Definition:
Join Caterpillar as a Cybersecurity Specialist on the Caterpillar Network Security Engineering Team. This role will provide technical leadership and work direction efforts for the Infrastructure Protection Team including Network Access Control, Firewall Policy, and enhancement/ maintenance of the Border Protection Team (BPT) Portal web application. This role will also provide technical leadership to Web Application Firewall (WAF) capabilities to several applications using a SaaS based tooling/solution.
What You Will Do:

Team leader of the Border Protection Team (BPT) web app - Responsible for daily operations and execution of team's services/offerings to business teams.

Partner with BPT team's product architect & security manager to ensure the technical infrastructure and associated processes are implemented to deliver the team's service offerings and meet SLAs.

Liaison with both internal and external business/process partners regarding the effective delivery of team service offerings
-
Lead and coordinate the team's service offerings effectively.

Identifies operational targets for each service offering.

Liaisons with vendors and other process partners that are critical to ensuring successful delivery of service offerings.

Ensure all relevant operational processes are identified, documented, and communicated.

What You Have:

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Security Engineering/Architecture, Computer Science, or a related field

Extensive experience in Cybersecurity, firewall/network management, and/or web applicationdevelopment

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology

Experienced in building customer focused processes.

Good Knowledge of software development processes, integration of security assessments in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, secure coding is required.

- Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.

- 8+ years of IT and cybersecurity experience , with at least 3 years focused on network security architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise network technologies: routers, switches, firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco), proxies, VPNs, and NAC.
- Hands-on experience designing and securing hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, VPN, VLANs, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetFlow).
- Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Top 18, and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.

+ One or more professional information security certification(s) from an accredited institution (CISSP, CCSP, CISSP, CISM, GCED, Linux, etc.)
+ Experience with Python, SQL, HTML, JAVA, C++ or other leading modern programming languages and technologies.
