Department Overview
The Department of Environmental Sciences in the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking a Project Manager for 32 hours/week, to join the Environmental Institute Climate Collaborative project on Arctic, Snow, Water, and Permafrost Management. The start date for the position will be Sept. 1, 2025; this will be a one-year contract with the potential for renewal for up to three years.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The project manager may on occasion accompany the project team to field sites (e.g. Utqia?vik, Alaska), which would require tolerance of harsh weather conditions, and long daylight or darkness hours.

EES-17 performs primarily solid-earth geophysics research and development in nonlinear acoustics, seismology, geology, and geodynamics. We do theoretical, modeling, and experimental work to improve our capabilities for the detection and monitoring of near-surface activities, which includes detonation detection and monitoring, numerical modeling of high strain-rate deformation of earth materials, and the use of advanced data analytics to improve seismic imaging and analysis of subsurface structures and tectonic processes. As a result, the program is responsible for the data management of cooling tower registration, inspection, compliance, laboratory results and outbreak incidents, and supports the management of drinking water tank inspection data. The program's work spans from data collection to comprehensive analysis, contributing to the development of regulatory strategies and identifying disease risks while assessing effective mitigation practices. BWSO is looking for a Data Analyst to join the Data Analysis and Special Projects Unit.

As a result, the program is responsible for the data management of cooling tower registration, inspection, compliance, laboratory results and outbreak incidents, and supports the management of drinking water tank inspection data. The program's work spans from data collection to comprehensive analysis, contributing to the development of regulatory strategies and identifying disease risks while assessing effective mitigation practices. BWSO is looking for a Data Analyst to join the Data Analysis and Special Projects Unit.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
-Assist in applying data analytics and manage databases to drive insights from inspection and research data, to enable better decision-making through improvements and recommendations that align with strategic Agency objectives and BWSO's regulatory enforcement for building water systems.
-Support the design and maintenance of basic databases and assist in developing tools to enhance the connection between data, field operations, compliance, and technical units within BWSO.
-Assist in troubleshooting data tools for internal and external users, including web-based registration portals, mobile inspection tools, and basic data/spatial analysis applications (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL).
-Coordinate data exchange tasks with external agencies, ensuring timely and accurate updates as directed by senior staff.
-Perform basic data validation and cleaning tasks, documenting changes and following established best practices for quality assurance.
