V2X Engineering is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development of a diverse set of mission critical products including advanced airborne systems, podded communication link and sensor systems, armament equipment, suspension and release equipment, cutting edge system integrations, radar systems, cockpit displays, avionics, and more. Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design of new products and test hardware, as well as the improvement of existing products. The engineer will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept generation phase, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design. The engineer will have the opportunity to design creative solutions that meet product requirements. The engineer should be familiar with 3D modeling and drafting, and able be hands-on supporting production, integration, and testing. The engineer will develop solutions which leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware. The engineer must be a resourceful researcher engaging vendors, manufacturers, and SME's regarding design decisions. The engineer will take part in design reviews at both part, subsystem and system level including Peer Reviews, DFMAs, PDRs, and CDRs. The engineer will work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers.

The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role supporting our team in the design, building, shipping, and service of Lincon Electric Automation products. A Mechanical Designer typically works on one project at a time (typically creating new designs that are very close to reference designs).

What You Will Do
• Understand and gain knowledge needed to work in software systems. i.e. Solidworks

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on conceptualizing and detailing innovative automation systems including robotic work cells, tooling, and precision positioning equipment. What You Will Do
- Lead the mechanical design of custom automation systems, often managing one (1) complex project at a time.
- Develop and document 3D mechanical designs using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Perform engineering calculations (static and dynamic systems) to ensure mechanical performance and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including fabrication, machine build, controls, and project management—throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical drawings, mechanical layouts, and detailed part documentation to support production and procurement.

- Ensure that mechanical designs meet all project specifications, quotations, and purchase order terms.

Required Experience & Skills
- 2+ years of mechanical design engineering experience
- Industrial automation or custom equipment development industry experience preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (ProE/Creo and/or SolidWorks required).
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles, fabrication methods, and materials.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and robotic system integration is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles and project collaboration is desirable.
