THE OPPORTUNITY
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing the company's HR plans in ways that support our mission and overall strategy in the People and Culture department at San Diego. This position will be responsible for:
- Develop strategic HR plans and policies (recruitment, training, compensation etc.)
- Develop plans for organizational growth structure
- Develop and implement performance/change management plans
- Decide and act on initiatives for equal opportunity, diversity, etc.
- Assume responsibility of labor and employee relations
- Ensure all procedures comply with regulations and best practices
- Analyze the effectiveness of HR operations and policies
- Re-engineer processes to ensure maximum efficiency
- Assess and anticipate human resources-related needs
- Develop and nurture partnerships through human resources to bridge the divide between management and employees
- Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring
- Provide proactive support, coaching and consultation in the development and implementation of key business and HR objectives and initiatives that affect human capital management and development, improve organizational performance, managerial and organizational capabilities.
- Act as point of contact and coordinate all disciplinary and grievance queries.
- Partner with management to explain and illustrate various HR policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Ensure accurate employee records maintenance
- Drive end to end employee life cycle management from onboarding to offboarding
- Lead negotiations with relevant HR consultancy agencies such as benefits and insurance companies
- Plan, organize, and control activities and actions of the HR department including oversight of department goals, objectives, systems and budget
- Experience with performance/change management
- Experience managing and administering HRIS, ATS systems and maintaining HR intranet
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HR / OD consulting / counselling, leadership, coaching, facilitation, project management, labor relations, grievance management, and employment law
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation
- Deep knowledge of HR functions (talent management, recruitment etc.)
- Tools/Technology /Knowledge
- Aptitude in communicating and public speaking
- Years of Experience, Education, and/or Certification.
- BSc/BA in business, HR, social sciences or related field; MSc/MA/MBA is preferable
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience including 5+ years in HR management at companies with over 100 employees
- Certification (e.g. PHR/SPHR) is a plus

General Function
The Director - HRBP will develop and own HR strategies for Rx Manufacturing locations within their scope supporting a blend of Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, onsite shared services, with approximately 1,500 employees to support.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Guides the leadership team through organizational development and change management initiatives including organization design, evolution, development, etc.

- Develops talent strategy for manufacturing operations to ensure proper positioning for future growth. Leads the development and ongoing management of a culture that supports high performance to deliver on long-term goals
- Identifies and delivers the necessary development programs and training opportunities that ensure employees can meet current & future performance standards and business requirements.
- Leads the implementation of performance management tools within the organization while providing strategic leadership to drive change and improvement in its areas of opportunity, as well as execution of talent review and succession planning initiatives.
- Ensures alignment between individual, business unit, and corporate practices and serves as a credible activist, operational executor, and business ally at all levels of the company. Seeks opportunities to leverage the COEs as necessary and builds relationships.
- Develops HR practices & policies to support and meet the compliance requirements for the company, while ensuring compliance with State and Federal law, corporate guidelines and practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- 10+ years of HR experience
- 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain environment, with experience supporting a large hourly manufacturing workforce.
- HR Generalist experience, with demonstrated history of working cross-culturally and within a matrix organization
- Experience in organizational design and effectiveness
- Strong skill set creating, tracking, and presenting KPIs for the HR function in partnership with business leadership
- Experience with coaching, developing a team, associate/labor relations, employment law
- Intellectually curious about organizational systems, business strategies and industry trends, with a verifiable track record of success partnering with management and serving as a trusted resource.

What We OfferCompensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $157,600-$236,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and C-suite executives on HR operations, organizational development, and talent-related opportunities and challenges. Design and implement innovative, industry best practice initiatives, policies, and programs that enhance consistency, retention, equity, and operational excellence across the organization. Manage the semi-annual performance review process, including scheduling, communication, system support, and training to ensure a smooth and effective experience. Mitigate challenges with creative solution oriented resolutions. Oversee compensation and benefits strategy to balance cost efficiency with competitiveness, maintaining internal pay structures and staying informed of market benchmarks. Direct the full-cycle recruitment process in partnership with internal stakeholders and external recruiters—sourcing talent, managing pipelines, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with departmental hiring needs. Administer employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, job and compensation changes, and leaves of absence, ensuring data accuracy and compliance. Foster a culture of belonging, inclusion, and engagement through curated programs such as employee events, internal communications, learning sessions, and mentoring initiatives. Manage employee relations activities including investigations, corrective actions, and terminations, ensuring fairness, legal compliance, and minimal organizational risk. Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws; oversee required training programs and conduct regular policy reviews and updates. Stay relevant with emerging trends, best practices, regulatory updates, and HR technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Develop and deliver learning and development programs that support skill-building, career advancement, and leadership pipeline growth. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required 12+ years' of professional HR experience, ideally in professional services and/or agency environment preferred with a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading an HR department and/or managing a team Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations – particularly for California and New York. Some knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations is helpful but not required.
