Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join their dedicated team. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to manage critical safety and environmental compliance initiatives from anywhere in the United States. Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety management.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EHS regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful EHS programs.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, hazard control, and industrial hygiene principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create effective training materials and reports.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel occasionally for specific site assessments or training if required (though the role is primarily remote).

**Position Overview**
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist - Supply Chain provides technical support and tactical execution of the Environmental, Health, and Safety program within the distribution centers. Reporting to the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager and working closely with others within the Human Resources, Risk Management, and Legal departments, the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist - Supply Chain will help develop and implement the IIPP/Safety Programs within the distribution center. The EHS Specialist will be the associate's safety partner and will strive to inspire the employee's commitment to comply with company safety standards and maintain a safe work environment.
**A Day In The Life**
+ Serve as a safety representative for the supply chain, assisting the EHS Manager in coordinating and implementing all areas of the safety programs.
+ Chair of the Distribution Center Safety Committees.
+ Develop Safety Committee members.
+ Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and optimization of safety, health, and hazardous materials and waste policies, practices, and procedures throughout the supply chain facilities in compliance with governmental regulations, including Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
+ With cross-departmental collaboration, conduct supply chain safety training.
+ Independently conduct regular audits of the supply chain operations, including facilities, machinery, and safety equipment, to identify and remediate potential compliance issues, safety risks, and other opportunities for better safety practices, and coach associates about better safety practices.
+ Ensure compliance with safety programs and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
+ Assist with conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions.
+ Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations.
+ Assist the DC EHS Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring Safety policies, procedures, claims reporting forms, and activities. Assist with maintaining OSHA injury and illness records.
+ Analyze injury trends and prepare recommendations for prevention.
+ Analyze and make recommendations regarding safety costs and initiatives.
+ Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and the use of safety equipment.
+ Respond to facility emergency events.
+ Performs special projects assigned by the EHS Manager.
**You'll Come With**
+ 2+ years of experience in safety with 30-hour OSHA certification or OSHA 511 course certification.
+ Working knowledge of OSHA regulations as well as other regulatory standards
+ Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
+ Strong time management skills
+ Works independently on a daily basis, providing quality reports, analysis, and policies in Safety
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
+ Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies or members of the business community
+ Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
+ Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
+ Experience with OSHA regulations

Reporting to the EHS manager at our Council Bluffs manufacturing facility, local producers of Marie Callendar, Healthy Choice, Banquet products and more, you will support the plant's Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability programs by integrating safety and environmental practices into daily operations. You will manage plant-level EHS projects, training, and compliance programs, working with teams such as Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality.

**Responsibilities**
**PURPOSE** : Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental, health, safety and sustainability programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and site policies. Leads all safety improvement process activities for the facility in support of Amcor's safety mission, policy, and values. Provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental health and safety programs.
1. Develop, implement and manage safety programs, policies and procedures utilizing the Corporate EHS Framework and audit process.
2. Conduct facility audits to identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures. Oversee Safety Concerns and Near Misses reported by employees to ensure completion.
3. Create/review Risk Assessments, SOPs and work instructions related to safety.
4. Lead investigation team for all incidents, significant near misses and property losses and create associate reports, oversee corrective and preventative actions.
5. Organize, track and oversee all required safety training, i.e. fork truck, hazardous energy, fall protection, crane, etc.
6. Provide safety orientation to new employees and refresher training for all employees.
7. Conduct Management of Change (MOC)/Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR) on new or modified equipment. Partner with project lead on major facility changes to provide EHS input into project planning.
8. Provide Supervisors/Production Shift Leads with safety training information for weekly and monthly safety meetings.
9. Provide weekly EHS reports to management; identify trends by analyzing injury/illness data and recommend corrective actions.
10. Manage online reporting database for all EHS incidents, Behavior based safety program and Corrective and Preventative Actions.
11. Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc. Oversee all federal, state and local environmental permits and ensure compliance.
12. Assist in purchasing, identifying and distributing appropriate personal protective equipment.
13. Maintenance of OSHA 300/301 logs.
14. Supervise safety teams and other employee engagement activities, such as safety recognition/awards, first aid team and safety committee.
15. Approve new chemical purchases and maintain SDS sheets, Hazard Communication program and environmental reporting.
16. Recommend and budget for safety capital expenditure projects and annual safety budget.
17. Perform any other duties established by the Plant Manager.
