We're looking for a Senior VFX Artist to join our team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the VFX pipeline, collaborating closely with the Art Manager and Art Director to execute and enhance the VFX style of our projects. Responsibilities include creating captivating visual effects, mentoring fellow artists, and overseeing the integration of VFX into our games.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Director of Art Management and Art Director to set the art style and craft high-quality real-time visual effects;
- Work closely with production to establish timelines and milestones and ensure timely delivery. Maintain and update project tracking within Jira. Generate well-structured reports for internal and stakeholder review;
- Research and analyze current and emerging visual effect trends and technology and collect reference materials that support the visual quality and style for the VFX team;
- Create clear and accurate technical writing and documentation regarding VFX production and use by other artists;
- Work closely with the graphic engineers to develop new, or improve upon old, technologies to improve visual effect quality;
- Collaborate with the design and gameplay teams to create visual effects that support gameplay systems;
- Handle all aspects of the VFX pipeline, which includes creating content from concept to final, polished result.
- 5+ years professional experience with at least 1 shipped AAA title or equivalent work in a related field (worked on the project from inception through completion);
- Proactive with a strong attention to detail, meticulous and organized working habits with ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change;
- Expert knowledge of job related tools and software (Unity, Houdini, Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, etc.) as well as a good level of drawing skills;
- Experience leading, mentoring and inspiring internal VFX team and supervise outsource VFX partners;
- Excellent written and verbal skills;
- Mobile and PC game development experience;
- Passion for games and knowledge of the games industry.
- Expert understanding of Unitys Shuriken particle systems;
- Expert understanding of Unitys Timelines and Animation systems;
- Expert understanding of Unitys component architecture and prefabs;
- A working knowledge of script behaviors and custom components;

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $90,000 and $130,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Amazon Studios is looking for a seasoned, dynamic Visual Effects Executive to support global production efforts on the Amazon MGM movie team. Recent releases include Roadhouse, Accountant 2, Challengers, G20, Another Simple Favor. Upcoming notable visual effects projects include Project Hail Mary, Play Dirty and Voltron.
The Visual Effects Executive will be responsible for overseeing the budgets, schedules and overall visual effects plans for a slate of projects. The position will work closely with internal partners, including Head of VFX, Production, Post-Production, Business Affairs, Finance and Creative Development teams. The chosen candiate will develop workflows to support both the visual effects department and the film-making teams.
Key job responsibilities
-Assist the Head of VFX and team in building a robust departmental structure that oversees the visual effects needs of a demanding and broad slate of diverse genres.
-Collaborate with production, creative and finance in greenlighting and prepping projects.
-Create VFX breakdowns from scripts; working alongside the line producer and director, as well as production executives, to develop a well-thought-out and realistic production plan.
-Investigate emerging technology and how to apply it to projects in order to achieve creative goals; perform statistical analysis to understand financial implications and cost efficiencies.
-Help develop department systems to track costs and present financial snapshots.
-Collaborate with Amazon production technology and AWS to create and provide cloud hosting for department and show databases.
-Oversee the development of custom pipelines when necessary for projects with specific creative and/or technological needs (including new technology) in collaboration with Amazon's engineering teams and existing, turn-key solutions.
-Help develop an asset management system for the VFX department that can organize and distribute assets to shows, departments and projects as needed.
-Recruit VFX teams such as VFX supervisors, producers, production supervisor, coordinators and editors; negotiate deals, contracts with agents and individuals.
-Work with VFX production teams to bid out shows, vet vendor-side teams and award work. Collaborate with the legal team on vendor contracts, including delivery milestones, rebate minimums, asset ownership and credit allocations.
-Manage weekly cost report tracking with VFX producers to track the overall VFX budget.
-Coordinate with internal teams to provide information and creative content that supports marketing, product placement, promotions, and publicity.
-Review VFX finals to ensure quality of delivered work and attend reviews, as necessary.
-Ability to identify potential production problems and work with VFX teams and the studio to find solutions, while preserving creative and budgetary goals.
-Collaborate with the creative executives, music, physical production and post departments to develop a workflow process that allows all departments to share information.
-If needed and on occasion, act as VFX Producer for projects in development and for smaller projects during production and post.
-Establish and maintain talent relations across the globe.
-Ability and willingness to travel globally.

Basic Qualifications
-10+ years of experience as Visual Effects Executive or the equivalent.
-10+ years of experience as VFX Producer on big-budget films, preferably heavy in visual effects arenas.
-Direct experience with budgeting, scheduling and cost reports.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with global SVOD delivery workflows.
-Experience with a variety of digital media workflows and post production.
-Experience with local guilds and unions.
-Experience with a thorough reach of global VFX vendor partners.
-Experience working and clear understanding of both domestic and global VFX tax incentives.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior VFX Artist (Project Hire) with a drive for crafting volumetrics, environment, and bespoke FX for in-game and cinematic AAA content.
