We are seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead our team at San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Fresno, CA. This 62-bed acute rehab hospital offers rehabilitative services to patients recovering from injuries or illnesses, helping them regain independence.
Hospital DetailsSan Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital is a specialized facility that provides the following services: rehab of physical and cognitive abilities, family engagement, and a fast‑paced, friendly work environment.
Responsibilities- Deliver quality care to patients, develop new business opportunities, supervise staff, and control financial performance.
- Balance day‑to‑day operational issues with strategic development initiatives to position the hospital for sustained growth.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. A combination of academic, clinical, and operational experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in healthcare administration/management with operations, HR, and/or finance experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state, CMS, and Joint Commission regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated track record of financial success and exemplary clinical care.

How you’ll contributeA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who excels in this role:
- Provide day-to-day leadership within the organization, including guidance and direction to achieve clinical and financial goals
- Design, develop and implement a strategic plan focused on clinical excellence, financial performance and market development in collaboration with the Board of Managers
- Create and maintain operational controls, reporting procedures and systems to meet the goals of the organization
- Oversee the financial structure and results of the organization, taking corrective actions as needed
- Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; recruit and retain required team members, including physicians, and provide mentoring
- Manage contracts and relationships with service providers and agreements, as appropriate

Key roles include but are not limited to:
Strategy- Works with board of directors and leadership team to develop and implement the agency’s strategy including considerations of sustainable quality, growth, risk, and stability
- Consistently considers and evaluates projects, needs, and environmental changes that may occur five to ten years in the future
- Develops and maintains contingency strategies to adjust operational activities when needed
Cultivates Key Relationships
- Acts as the principal public relations officer, representing the organization, generating community awareness, and building collaborative stakeholder relationships
- Cultivates and sustains strategic relationships with elected and administrative policy makers, major customers, governmental agencies, and financial entities
- Strives for relationships to be collaborative and mutually beneficial first, but able to tactfully maintain mission-critical positions when needed

The CEO must possess a broad and flexible range of leadership and management competencies including but not limited to the following.
- Build, develop, motivate, and delegate to high performing teams

- Understand and bring a proactive and critical approach to monitoring the full range of organizational interactions and performance
- Possess a strong working knowledge of organizational finances and cash flow

Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of executive leadership and managerial experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Minimum of 10 years building and leading teams
- Minimum of 10 years financial experience including budgeting, monitoring performance, cash flow analysis, risk analysis, and scenario planning, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Experience working with governmental agencies and funding is preferred
- Experience in supportive housing is preferred
- Experience with land acquisition, development and construction of multi‑family properties is preferred
- Experience with financing for multi‑family development for less‑than‑market‑rate housing is preferred
Education
Minimum of bachelor's degree in business administration, non‑profit management, or other related field. Master's degree preferred
